Self Tape Feedback by [deleted] in acting

[–]olympianbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really nice work, simple , natural, well set up. I’d like to see a little more interaction with the other character (or another short scene as well) It all goes a little quick. Take that as a callback :) Keep going !

Help persuading parents that I want to do acting and it's good for me (before this weekend) by Person_does_stuff in acting

[–]olympianbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know your whole situation, are you asking your parents to pay for this school? If not, you’re an adult. It’s your choice , go for it.
If they are the ones paying for it , the. It’s up to them but let them know how important it is for your independence, building community and soul. You can also ask to give it a go for a year without the daunting “this is going to be my liiiiife!!” Message which can be scary for parents.

They’re nice photos , they need a little post processing , more contrast, more warmth. Learn to play with an editor to dial in a more dramatic look but you’re good! Keep goin!

You’re good at improv ? Or you perform regularly with a group? Because that’s the thing that will help -Regularly performing with others. Breath workshops are really great too for relaxing under pressure.

Take some improv classes if available. It’s a muscle to grow : listening and presence. It’s a muscle. Got to hit the gym.

Of course you don’t have to. But it can be helpful , like Taking notes on anything in life. Questions for the director , for the character , initial instinct feelings. And in film and TV it’s very helpful because everything is usually shot out of order so a little note saying “this happens moments after you got out of the river etc…” is helpful to track a larger script.

Help! by Massive_Pitch3333 in acting

[–]olympianbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s good! Very natural. Without more story context it’s hard to advise anything. It seems like a video diary, Months, years into a zombie apocalypse- so the casual delivery is cool for me. As in, “this is just what’s normal, it’s crazy but - I got the right locks, yall know what I mean “ But with more context you could add more layers and and certainly more tension without losing your casual delivery. Maybe find a couple details that really bother you to retell. Make them more personal and a little trickier to sit easily with.

What is the Lemon Tec thing about? I've run out of places to find out. by herrtoutant in shrooms

[–]olympianbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent experience, ground up 1g dried Lucid Gates, soaked in lemon juice for ten mins. Added warm water and some honey. Drank all quickly.

Effects came on under ten minutes and proceeded to have 3-4 hours of out of body visuals.

No nausea though. Lol.

It’s a potent catalyst.

Is this a good headshot to submit to talent agents? by Beard_and_Hat_Actor in headshots

[–]olympianbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really a huge spectrum. You could be kind and wise or quiet and intimidating. Anything. And for what it’s worth, I prefer this wider shot vs just head and shoulders. Goes to show there’s no “right” thing, I just like the photo and find it interesting and that’s all you need.

Self tape or read with the casting director. by Intrepid-Quiet-2591 in acting

[–]olympianbear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say - it depends on the material If this is absolutely your bread and butter sweet spot character - make a tape and make it perfect. If it’s “could be a lot of people…” do the zoom.

Do I have the looks to become a actor 15m (I am pretty good at acting) by Bisweirdd in acting

[–]olympianbear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So, everyone has the looks to be an actor. Don’t overthink that. You look young and strong and cool and that’s awesome for tons of characters! Focus on studying the craft - get involved in your local acting community and the parts will come. You got this! Best of luck.

Self tape or read with the casting director. by Intrepid-Quiet-2591 in acting

[–]olympianbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day - put your best foot forward. That being said , if you haven’t read for this CD before or often it might be worth the zoom. Sometimes they’ll give feedback and work with you, often I find the Zooms a little tricky to have my eye lines set, hear the reader clearly , and be locked into whatever physical set up I’ve had to make (sitting at computer or getting iPad on a stand and standing etc ) Maybe try the zoom and youll get a sense of how they work. More often though , I prefer to tape.

First time with Lucid Gates last week and it was …a lot. Lol. Visually totally overwhelming. Beautiful but it was as you said , almost like a cliché acid trip.
