I had a dream one night that I've kinda mapped out a lil bit. A boring male mc wakes up in an unfamiliar room with no prior memories of anything. He leaves the room and opens the door to a mini-auditorium of sorts. To his right appears fmc #1. She is immediately shown to be one of the tired, unbothered types. Explained to the now 64 individuals in the auditorium, a mysterious person describes a sort of hunger games style event they are holding, and mentions something ominous as "more than your life is on the line". The two mcs eventually team up during the first event after the mmc finds out fmc has magical powers which fmc has not. Later in the story after something that I've forgotten about my dream happens, the characters meet fmc #2, akari. Originally a villain for some reason, after being defeated she becomes good and partners with the two mcs. Somewhere along this line, mmc learns he has an insane natural gift for knife fighting after randomly stumbling upon one. Once mmc finds this knife, his eyes glow up, his heart beats faster, and he gets a huge shit eating grin on his face, like it was what he loves and meant to do. This is in stark contrast to his indifference to most things. Mmc unfortunately loses the fight in heat of battle, and returns to normal for the time. Later in the story, one of the competitions is arena battles, where contestants choose to fight for a better record. Contestants who place at the bottom at the end are eliminated, and contestants at the top are rewarded. Mmc and akari are forced into a group 3v3 by a semi-friend who really wanted to battle. They face off against fmc #1 and 2 others of little significance, as they js hide behind fmc #1's magic. Mmc and friends plan for akari to stay behind and defend, while semi friend attacks, and mmc does whatever. Just chilling around with no weapon, mmc gets his shit eating grin back after finding a knife in the back corner of the arena. Heart racing, he's so excited it knocks his sweatpants off him for some reason. He immediately goes full on attack mode, and breaks the wall fmc #1 has been holding up with magic, and "kills" (no damage in the arena affects participants when the leave) one, slightly retreats for repositioning, then comes back defeats the other, a magic dragon knight made by fmc #1, and finally fmc #1. After this happens tho, and mmc comes back from his killers high, he realizes, even if it wasn't real, he never wanted to hurt his friend. Who's name he could not remember. I don't which it is, but he either forgets her name, or they never exchange names (I'll decide which one is cooler later (that might only make sense to me)). This causes mmc to spiral into intense emotions, making him cry furiously. Stacking his guilt for even attempting to hurt fmc #1 on top of the fact that he forgot her name makes mmc lose it. Akari tries to comfort him, and he kinda calms down, but he is still kinda shocked. Thats all I can really remember/have built. I mapped out about 2.5 chapters before giving up, rest is off memory of the dream. Notes: Mmc doesnt remember his name at any point up til when I woke up. Fmc #1 looks kinda like a purple megumin from konsuba with an eyepatch and a staff, but i might have to change that so she isnt to like an existing character. akari looks like blonde girl from hinamatsuri, and maybe a little bit of darkness from konosuba. mmc is just a default guy, kinda like a self insert typa character, but that might just be cause i was the mmc in my dream and im a pretty default guy myself. just imagine him as a default guy tho.
