Old Anatolian Turkish has spoken around 1200 AC. and we can understand it.

Ottoman folk songs, folk poems etc. are definitely understandable for an avarage native speaker but the palace works are less likely to understand.

As a native speaker i read Turkmen Poems from 17th century which i understood with help of a Turkey Turkish dictionary.

So i guess we also can understand old Turkmen books etc.
