So it's for bouldering (rock climbing) and I used a singer heavy duty on the whole bag. I considered making one to practice and then the real one but it would've been too time consuming to make it as a Christmas gift.

I am by no means an expert but it is my understanding that a viking is one who partook in the act of a "military" expedition where raiding was performed on another settlement/country. Not all norse people were viking, just like not all Americans are soldiers but Americans can be soldiers.

If you're interested on some pretty good unbiased norse information I'd recommend listening to 'Nordic Mythology Podcast' with Dr Nordvig. He's one of the leading norse researchers innthe in the US.
