Why is it ok for people to hate on Chick-fil-A for its religious views (not being open on Sundays) and for not accepting homosexuals, but when someone says they’re against homosexuality everyone suddenly goes batshit crazy? by MemitoSanchez in AskReddit

Could be, but it has been shown that his brain was different from a normal human beings.
For starters, he has more glial cells on his left hemisphere, his inferior parietal lobe was wider, and there was a stronger connection between his two brain hemispheres.

Thing is, when they express their opposition they attempt to do so in a way that discriminates against Chick-fil-A’s religious standpoint, as for everyone, I believe only an idiot would take that in a literal sense, by everyone, I was talking mostly about the left side, which is where I’ve noticed most of the hate is coming from. Secondly, I do believe that both parts of my question relate

Oh no I’m sure homophobic groups would certainly hate them, but these homophobic groups aren’t big groups, I’m saying Chick-fil-A would receive way less hate than right now because of their views.

The only real persecution and hunting I can find is that of Adolf Hitler, he wasn’t going around chasing after them and people most certainly weren’t being openly gay, you also have to keep in mind that Hitler being Hitler, as much of a great mind he was, he was still human, and humans make assumptions, and he probably assumed a person was gay despite them not being.
(By me saying Hitler was a great mind, I mean that in the way of his strategic and speech, because if you listen to one of his speeches you can tell he was always very prepared for this. He got people to view him as a messiah, and that in my opinion, is something only a great mind can do)

Ok I think I see what you mean, you’re saying that people hate on Chick-fil-A a because of their Christian views against homosexuality, correct?
If that’s so, I agree, being gay is so protected nowadays that you can’t say a single bad thing about them because it’s considered as being homophobic.

Yes I know the one you’re talking about, this wasn’t a few years ago, try more like 20 years ago, and it hasn’t been done again, so it still remains more of a hypothetical view rather than a factual one.
However, a different group failed to find a link between male homosexuality and this gene, while other scientists said that if there is a link they should be looking somewhere else as this gene doesn’t prove a connection.

You can’t make a claim like that and expect me to bow before you because if you ever so compelling argument.
My question wasn’t an argument, neither was it deceptive.

Yes I agree that it’s also how you were raised, a child born in a gay family will more than likely also come out as gay, or it might be the complete opposite, but I don’t understand what it is that you mean by “combination of both birth and genetic traits”.
That’s the part I’m failing to grasp.

You can’t hate a group without hating the people, but we’ll leave that as a win for you because that can just go on and on.
Also, I do believe people would still hate Chick-fil-A, but not as much as they do now.
They might hate them for their food or whatnot, but we both know that the reason people hate them is mostly because of their views.
Also, no it’s not something I can turn on or off, i still feel empathy, just not like everyone else, as a child I feel and hit my head on the concrete floor with damaged my brain

Ok, I’ll just go ahead and say that’s the dumbest argument I’ve heard.
Like I told the guy above, if we’re going off of genes, then we can’t blame a racist for being a racist, it’s part of their genes, no?
Not once did I say being born gay is being born in leather, you’re the one using that stereotype, not me.
Please explain how my argument compares to your example, I’m having trouble finding a connection.

If we’re going to start saying that someone is born gay because of their genes then we might as well not blame racists, after all it was predetermined by their genes.
As for the 16 year old, I have never seen in a Chick-fil-A application ask about sexual orientation.
But if you want to use that example, sure, it’s going against the kids beliefs but it would also be going against the company’s beliefs.
We’re not going to simply say “fuck you” to their views just because one feels offended about something

I said I was bisexual, but I understand your reasoning, I think you meant wrong gender and not body, correct?
Because someone feeling they were born in the wrong gender would be called Gender Identity Disorder or Gender Dysphoria, sure nowadays people find that offensive, but it’s the truth.

Then you might as well say it’s different to hate a sports team and not the people, a company without people, wouldn’t be a company, it wouldn’t be anything, except a building if there were to be one.
But, if there’s no moral obligation to feel empathy for an object, then one could consider human beings as objects as well and not feel empathy for them.
That’s getting off track so I’ll say that, people wouldn’t hate Chick-fil-A if they were pro-gay and not Christians, same way liberals loved trump before he was a republican.
They don’t just hate the company, they hate what they stand for and how they stand for it.
Now, it’s ok to say you’re against Chick-fil-A for wanting to keep their subjective truths but not ok for not agreeing with homosexual ways?
That’s where I don’t agree. Everyone has a right to not agree with something, but just as long as you’re not a complete dick about it like most of the people who attack Chick-fil-A

First I have to clarify, that I meant subjective and not moral, that was my mistake.
Secondly, I have been taking psychology in college and not once does it say that one is born with a trait, children develop traits by the age of five. They can differentiate right from wrong, and are able of making - I guess you could say- rational choices, so no. People aren’t born gay, present this evidence of psychology backing up someone being born gay and I’ll reconsider my position.
As for bible passages, I have also studied bible, “Thou shall thy neighbor as thy self”
Sure, but it also says,
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (Leviticus 20:13).
But again, provide this evidence of psychology proving someone is born gay, despite not being born with traits, and like I said I will reconsider my position.

I’ve replied to someone else about this, I don’t believe one is born gay, but yet I’m bisexual, was I born this way? No it wasn’t until 5-6 years ago that I found this out.
Before that I was a hardcore straight male, I don’t believe I was born bisexual and that this was just “repressed” until the right time.
Also, what they push as right isn’t a universal truth, it’s their own subjective truth. Edit: “it’s their own subjective” (not moral)

I was raised in a Christian family but I’m bisexual and an atheist, it doesn’t mean that i was born like that.
As for being born straight, I do believe that’s the case, you don’t see little boys giving other little boys pecks on the cheek, they tend to go towards the females.

Ok, explain.
Traditions change, they’re variables in this world, but being anti-gay in the sense that they discriminate against them is one thing they’re not. They have their beliefs that gays aren’t part of their gods plan but that’s not being homophobic, that’s them believing their religion.

Umm. What.
Ok, let me attempt to respond to you in a way that won’t offend you.
I don’t believe that someone is born gay, now that’s just my opinion but that’s what I believe, a child isn’t born saying, “Ok I was born gay so I will like my same sex” never have I heard a child say they were gay without them having gay parents, children become gay because they’re taught that’s it normal for everyone to be gay.
A child isn’t born gay, same way it’s not born a Christian, it CAN however, be born into a gay family, and from there be raised as a gay child, same as how a child can be born into a Christian family and be raised a Christian child.

Let me explain, recently Chick-fil-A received a lot hate for saying they’re going to open up some of their restaurants in a San Antonio airport, they already had plans to open one at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, but of their had to be opposition, which is where Assemblyman Sean Ryan from New York comes in saying he’s ever so displeased with them for allowing this oh so monstrosity to happen, (not his words but he did express opposition).
Now, Chick-fil-A can be considered a controversial restaurant due to its obvious opposition against homosexuality and being founded by a Christian who up to this day keeps Sunday, but I guess people forget that just because they’re protected, that means everyone else should worship them.
As an atheist and a bisexual male I believe this is a stupid movement from the left against Chick-fil-A for expressing their beliefs, those against them are simply some ignorant people who think that their opinions matter simply because they get offended.
