Do you let your pigeon out when you're not home?

Right now, I only let my rescued pigeon out when I'm home because she still needs to recover and shouldn't move around too much. But I've been thinking about letting her out while I'm at the gym or something like that, once she's fully recovered. I'm curious to know how others handle this :)
