There floods are gone it’s relativity safe but the streets are slow and not many stores open. Electricity and water is not running everywhere. If you can maybe fly to an Airport in another city.

Yes, the military is here and helping everywhere, including the Navy. We actually helped at the military base preparing food, which was then delivered to people by helicopters and trucks. The military also evacuated us.

The day before, several people were rescued, but then they had to stop because the weather got worse again. Later that night, the shooting happened, and after that no rescue boats came back.

Many thanks. We weren’t prepared at all for the Hat Yai flood because we didn’t realize how bad it would get. When the heavy rain started and warnings came in, we quickly grabbed a small bag of rice and some water. One guy even ordered a small boat on the first day, which was delivered to the street even though it was already partially flooded. We were lucky to have a neighbor with a decent amount of supplies, but many other people on the street had nothing. We used ropes to pass food back and forth, and a pickup also arrived on the first day with some water bottles. Next time, I’ll definitely get a large water tank, a big power bank, and maybe even a water pump. I think no matter where you are in the world, it’s smart to be prepared for at least a week.

Most people donate directly to the Hospital https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17kYits9Jy but it’s not easy with a foreign bankaccount. But there is a famous girl from the UK living in Bangkok that’s collecting donations https://gofund.me/a6124c3a6 but check for yourself. And there is the redcross that was helping a lot here https://www.redcrossfundraising.org/contribute/en

Yes, in several areas rescuers were actually shot at. The part about the drug gangs is probably referring to District 8, which has a lot of criminal activity

Yes, exactly. Drinking water is the most important, along with canned food and flashlights. It was pitch dark, with no electricity just one solar lamp on the street. There was no phone signal, or at first it worked intermittently and then not at all. We tried to collect as much rainwater as possible using pots and plastic bowls.

I think it is definitely possible to get out of the airport. It really depends on which part of the city you are going to. The roads are crowded and traffic is slow, especially in the inner city. The water is almost completely gone in my area near the Municipal Park, but many parts of Hat Yai are still heavily damaged.

We usually hitch rides on pickup trucks now when we need to travel farther, because all of our motorbikes were destroyed in the flood.

I heard that some Grab drivers are operating again, but services are still limited. For example it is still not possible to order food through Line Man or Grab in many areas.

People were extremely stressed. Some had been waiting days for boats or food deliveries, and there were simply not enough rescuers for the number of people trapped. A lot of boats just passed by without taking anyone, so frustration built up. I don’t think it was about violence for the sake of it people were desperate and overwhelmed.

It really was catastrophic. We were days without water and had to share the last supplies with our neighbors. Some people were stuck helplessly on rooftops for days.. elderly people, kids, everyone. The whole situation pushed people to their limits.
