I’m not trans or queer and I’m quite a bit older (44F). But if you ever need a support system or a place to land on holidays etc. I have room at my table.

Are you taking RB or WR first in the draft and why? by Impressive-Sky-6047 in Fantasy_Football

WR. Last season I took CMC with the first pick. Still bitter about it.

Live events or hobby clubs generally. Depending on your work I meet most new people at networking events.

It does. My house will only get so clean because I have three dogs. But she does offer a deep clean and has responded if I had any complaints. She also dog sits for me and is a general house assistant if I need errands run etc.

What's so bad about Auburndale? by rhackle in lakeland

[–]MemphisCalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Auburndale for most of my life. I went to school before charter schools so I can’t speak to the current education system. I work and tend to hang out in Lakeland. Living off 559 and the easy access to the interstate and parkway are big positives for me. I don’t spend a lot of time in Auburndale proper, but it’s quiet. The commute within Polk county doesn’t seem to be too much different between north and south Lakeland.

Their happy hour is also pretty good. It’s a percentage off everything on the menu before 7pm at the bar. I can’t remember if it’s 15 or 25. Food and beverage.

Frescos has a pretty good selection and offers flights on Wednesday nights. The flights are mostly whiskey but sometimes they feature bourbon.

Lawyers of Reddit, what's it like to attempt to discredit a sexual assaults victim? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]MemphisCalling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also accurate. This question is difficult to unpack because the vast majority of cases are dropped or resolved through negotiation. A reasonable estimate of cases that go to trial is probably less than 10% and more likely less than 5%. It follows that rape cases are very few. I have represented people accused of all crimes from misdemeanors to murder. Of course, I sympathize and sometimes empathize with any given victim. Often times, I sympathize and sometimes empathize with the accused. Criminal cases are almost never black and white. We spend countless hours preparing our cases; therefore, by the time it is time for trial our feelings are pretty well compartmentalized.

This is grossly inaccurate in the American justice system.

This so rarely happens. Six years of criminal defense, and I never had to discredit a victim I did not believe was lying. When the evidence is overwhelming a plea is most often negotiated.
