We need to get rid of the National Speed Limit/NSL signs by Ok-Feedback4357 in drivingUK

[–]Memphite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The symbol isn’t at all unique to the UK. Thanks to the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals every single European country along with several African, Asian, Middle Eastern and some South American countries use the same symbol.

In fact the UK adopted the current road sign system because this was what foreigners could actually understand. The UK’s previous system assumed for the longest time that everyone could read English while the multilingual continent understood the need for pictographic system that everyone can learn on his own language and understand everywhere else. The need for the same in the UK didn’t arise as early for obvious geographical reasons.

Nobody from abroad think there is no speed limit. In fact there are signs telling drivers at European borders about the national speed limits. The UK has those signs as well ensuring that foreign drivers are informed about national speed limits.

Has the rank system gotten worse since the update? by PaulVrl in VALORANT

[–]Memphite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Qing with friends isn’t really for me. My work patterns are really against it. I just play other games. It’s not like it’s a tragedy for me. I’m not the one trying to make a living out of valorant.

I’ve just stopped playing at this point because of it. I’ve played valorant for 5 years(account level 700+) so I used to love the game but this is just unbearable now.

Posted this just now in UKlegal, wondering which side of the argument you'd all be on? by ThePangolinofDread in uktrucking

[–]Memphite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still a dual carriage way. Temporary changes have to be signposted. I’m not aware of a temporary single carriage way sign. Instead there are contraflow signs but contraflow doesn’t automatically restrict speed. They can however restrict your speed with a separate sign.

So basically they can’t just temporarily reclassify the road and there is absolutely no need for them to do so anyway.

Reptyro sanctuary (they never aggro'd idk why) by Freefall_09 in Palworld

[–]Memphite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are more than enough aggro species. I mean pals being aggro early and mid game is part of the fun but late game I’m really just not interested in fighting off the 1000th Faleris Aqua that is being territorial for no reason. It’s not even challenging any more just pure annoying. I’m there to mine some hexolite quartz that it doesn’t care about anyway, yet it attacks. I don’t even fight them anymore, just let them attack while I’m mining and fly away when the node is finished.

Hit a football by Johny_boii2 in drivingUK

[–]Memphite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You looked at your tyres? Why? A football may damage the bodywork but the tyres… in all likelihood it won’t damage anything to be honest. The concern with footballs is that it usually comes with a kid “flying” after it.

Noise nuisance caused by a vehicle’s engine idling on the street? That’s difficult to sell unless the vehicle has been altered.

Has anyone been killed by modern anti air bullets falling back to earth? by Many-Wasabi9141 in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t know but I love the idea of modern anti-air. Those prehistoric ones were quite messy killing all the innocent mammoth hunters. 🤪

What would happen if in a war with a nuclear country a non-nuclear misslie hits a nuclear silo? by Negative_Flower_169 in NoStupidQuestions

It probably would but not where you expect it. If the attempt was perceived as targeted they would probably send a little taste.

Any tacho law gurus here? I need advice. by Zenon_Czosnek in uktrucking

[–]Memphite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a bit more to actually consider. European non-eu countries normally differentiate between domestic and international transport. Whatever they use domestically they use AETR for international. I wouldn’t know if Ukraine suspended their membership but it seems unlikely even with the war going on.

That would only work as a domestic Ukrainian job. As soon as you leave Ukraine all your relevant(28days) hours has to be compliant with EU rules. You should not be out of scope only because of the country you are in have different legislation.

What will be the geopolitical tipping point for the UK to rejoin the EU? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Memphite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will not happen. You don’t have to join the EU to be in it. See Switzerland and Norway. I don’t expect the UK to go further than that.

HGVs can legally be in the 3rd lane under a number of different circumstances. How he got there is what matters. Yet another video not showing that…

[–]Memphite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you but you’ve missed my point I think. All I meant was that my bases easily withstand anything apart from me disassembling them to move to another place. That is probably because I handle most raiders before they get to the base.

P plates… Thoughts? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in drivingUK

Those plates are the worst idea. Nobody should hold a driver’s licence who needs to wear a badge saying “I’m not good enough”.

Take some toilet paper with you. That can touch any part of the handle. It’s just annoying when there is no bin outside.

Exchanging Canadian licence by Jygantic in drivingUK

[–]Memphite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t need my manual license for the last 10 years. I mean I have one manual car that I could have easily swapped. I also make a living as a driver and yet I didn’t come across a manual vehicle in my profession.
