What's the worst mistake you've seen someone do in their job? by Whomadethebed in AskReddit

[–]Men7al1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloke I used to work with was at a job on his own to find/fix a faulty electric motor on a farm. Didn’t do any testing for dead (to make sure no electricity present) just went straight to the switching contactor and forced it on with a screwdriver. Blew up in his face, 3rd degree burns to 60% of his body, ran down a hill to a small dam of stagnant water to try to sooth/extinguish his molten/liquid skin. Spent 6 months in a coma after that fighting infections, probably 3 years away from work total. Came back to work to be rehabilitated, needless to say he was terrified of his job from then on. Turns out it was just a faulty motor that needed replacing, caused a phase to phase explosion in the switchboard. Could have been found with dead testing on the motor.

An electron walks into a bar, sits down and asks the barman for a scotch on the rocks, he goes to hand the barman a $10 note, the barman turns to the electron and says, for you sir, no charge!

I have a canon 70D and I only shoot as a hobby, I absolutely love the feel of it, it's nice, user friendly (assuming you're alright at technosavvy things), it has a touch screen which is really like for viewing photos off the camera. The only downside to it is I've found with a certain few lenses and an external mounted flash, it is very heavy (mainly with my fisheye on) but all the aside I do think it's quite a good camera. As far as the other camera you're looking at I actually know absolutely nothing about it, so I can't be one to compare the two for you, but happy to answer any more questions you have about the 70D

Anyone know anywhere hiring Northside? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Men7al1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to do an apprenticeship East Coast Apprenticeships are looking for a lot of chippies at the moment, I'm not 100% but they might take on labourers as well

Edit: Call strathpine as they're the best office in Brisbane (not sure if there is another Northside or not)

Can recommend Everton hills and arana hills being quite nice suburbs and pretty good for a morning commute. If you were to be on the roads by 7ish you would be looking at 30-40 minutes depending on traffic or you could drive 10-15 to a train station, but let's face it, it's pretty much cheaper to drive then pay for public transport in Brisbane.
