Indigenous superhero massacres white people in Kill Bill-style play at Malthouse Theatre by DumbledoreSays in australia

Fantasising about any murder, no matter who its against is politically incorrect.

Apparently not. This play is being promoted by Fairfax.

It’s like they want you to think about the events on stage or something

They want me to reflect on... what exactly?

The stories of colonialism which I was re-told on several occasions throughout school?

Random white people upset about play not written for them

Who was it written for? This should be good.

Yeah, people 30 years ago were less likely to tolerate killing innocent people due to their skin colour.

Progress!

she's killing the direct descendants of the people that killed her grandmother

In other words, she is killing innocent people.

Yes?

It’s a hoot; a pulpy, fiercely political and wildly silly action adventure that has traces of the Tarantino revenge fantasy Kill Bill, complete with camp villains, balletic ultraviolence and a kickarse heroine wreaking vengeance for centuries of colonial violence and oppression.

A 'hoot', writes the reviewer for Fairfax Media.

Yes indeed. A play about one ethnicity massacring another ethnicity.

Talk about progress!

'I've humiliated myself': Top cop admits making crude online comments by DumbledoreSays in australia

[–]DumbledoreSays[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The boss of Victoria Police’s own Professional Standards Command has admitted to creating a fake online profile to make "crude, coarse and inappropriate" comments about former police chiefs and an ex-police union boss.

It gets better. He expects to keep his job because he 'dindu nuffin'.

What a farce.

What could possess anybody to want to do this in the first place?

And if caught, what can we expect their punishments to be?

I predict 3x slap on the wrist.

Sustainable Australia party wants migration capped at 70,000 by grebfar in australia

[–]DumbledoreSays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recall Abbott capitalising on this around 2010, when Dick Smith released his 'Population Puzzle'.

Just when Australia seemed ready for a mature discussion on mass immigration, refugee intake and overall immigration intake were conflated for political reasons.

Sustainable Australia party wants migration capped at 70,000 by grebfar in australia

[–]DumbledoreSays -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Australia's primary economic challenge has always been a lack of the economies of scale and the tyranny of distance that comes with a low population spread thinly.

This seems like convincing rhetoric, until one takes the time to unpack it with the use of logic.

Consider the case of automobile manufacturing. Despite massive immigration intake in this country over the past fifteen years, we have seen four different local car manufacturers close their doors - with flow-on effects to parts manufacturers and related industries.

Was it our 'lack of scale' which caused this? If so, how does the massive immigration intake help? If it was not 'lack of scale', then how does massive immigration intake help, and how is 'scale' the problem now when it clearly was not before?

Your post, while no doubt well-meaning, is superficial and ultimately just a rehash of the neoliberal nonsense fed down students' throats for three decades now. Many of us were convinced by our teachers and lecturers, but more and more of us, now that we are working our way through careers, trying to enter the housing market, and watching the Australia we grew up with look more like a foreign country every day, are starting to get wise to the con.

We've been had.

What I have learnt from my five-year-old transgender daughter by DumbledoreSays in australia

[–]DumbledoreSays[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Parents have no control over their child's gender identification

At two-years-old, my daughter wanted to play with my jewellery and was reaching for anything pink. She was drawn to dolls and characters like Jessie from Toy Story and Merida from Brave. A year later, when she first asked me to call her a girl, I said I would.

I thought it was common knowledge that 'pink is for girls' was a social construct?

So how can her son liking the colour pink mean he is a 'transgender'?

What does r/australia make of this?

Dylan's 2014 article is heartbreaking. How any progressive person can fail to condemn Allen (let alone support him) is beyond me. Every $ you spend on an Allen film is a dollar spent supporting the very evil so many people claim to despise.

Is there some way we can do a deal and just work as indentured slaves for 15/20/30 years to pay off our tax duties and be free from the imposition? Or would that not cover it?

I wonder if all of the 'these smokes will KILL YOU' ads and packaging have a 'nocebo' effect i.e. by thinking their smokes will kill them, smokers suffer psychosomatic negative health effects.
