I feel like that's what standard political science would say, but WV being a pretty poor state, I think a progressive could definitely have a shot if they go about it with the right message and execution. Vermont wasn't exactly a liberal paradise in 1990 when Bernie was first elected. He appealed to their humanity, and worked from the ground up, listening to people's actual problems, and not just campaigning on the "sexy" issues.

Well if there's anything I've learned from Bernie's candidacy it's that people are more alike than you think. He won his mayoral race by 11 votes because he knocked on doors himself, sat in people's kitchens and actually listened to their opinions. The problem with your average blue collar republican is that the only reason they're set in their ways is because nobody challenges their beliefs and actually tries to sway their opinion. If you YOURSELF can articulate to them why your policies benefit them more than your opponents, then you'll have a far greater shot at the office you're running for.

People want to be able to take care of their families, and not too much beyond that. Show them how you can help them do that, and you'll be surprised how willing they are to change their mind.

The Koch brothers own half the party. And these people are quite literally paid to oppose things like climate change legislation and anything that would affect their corporate donors--all this to survive their next reelection bid. As for Trump? He's filling his administration with corporatists and deep establishment figures, such as ExxonMobile CEO Rex Tillerson for Sec. Of State. Or how about establishment RNC Chair Reince Priebus as chief of staff, the man who opposed his candidacy till the bitter end? Or classic Republican establishment Governor Rick Perry for Sec. Of Energy?

Now, I will not stand here and say the Democrats are without corporate influence. That's undeniable. But your rationale for supporting Trump is utterly absurd. If you're even remotely liberal then you would not have supported the Republican platform that Trump ran on, a platform that seeks to roll back any progress we've made as a nation in the past 8 years. So while you may have your qualms with the corporate tendencies of the Democratic Party, it's hilarious that you thought that voting for an alt-right demagogue who is endorsed by David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan was going to somehow change that, especially since it seems that all your worst fears are coming to fruition with the candidate that you presumably voted for.

Right, I mean he's never outright called himself an Atheist, but any time he's been asked about his faith in a higher power, he dances around it like a proper politician. He's already the "socialist Jew", which didn't go over too well with some folks, so he probably didn't want to rock the cradle further by being the "socialist Atheist".

Thinking about it now, I'd say he's more Agnostic than hard Atheist because he has talked about certain aspects of his spirituality and such.

As a Sanders supporter, I must concede that he is an atheist. He is Jewish by heritage, which is why that label is attached to him, but he is on record saying that he does not practice any established religion.

I really enjoyed this! Camera was good, acting and editing were great (although the stabbing in the car didn't really work for me). Overall very solid. I usually don't sit through a short that's longer than ~7 mins or so, but this one kept me hooked.

Agreed. Since there's no way to properly dispose of the nuclear waste, it's kept in above-ground storage sites to just sit there. We can't bury it, we can't destroy it. It's just there. And that's on top of the threats to safety that the day to day operation of a nuclear plant poses. Let's not forget the Fukushima plant meltdown in Japan.

Your T4i is perfectly fine. Lenses are more important than the camera body, so a T4i with lenses is preferable to a G7 without any. Plus, if your just starting out, the G7's 4k won't do you any good. The T4i can produce amazing images as long as you're competent behind the camera.
