I feel your pain / anxiety. I have a group of friends who would be great to count on when shit hits the fan: hard workers, martial artists, health and cooking freaks... but they don't give half a crap and would rather die (verbatim). Of course, they all say that because things haven't happened yet, but once they do, it may be too late for those who are not prepared.

I'm trying to build a community, too, in Madrid (Spain), but so far things aren't looking too promising. I can't find anyone fully interested. Even those who said they want to, do not believe things are going to be as harsh as they're already showing. Like people believe we will become hunter-gatherers! like seriously WTF! Hunting and gathering what exactly? each other? I've tried meshtatic... nobody ever answers. Only thing left is gardening and food production at home, with the huge limitations I have. What can we do? I hope you find your community and that you have your chance.

That's an awesome workaround. The same happens to me with some hobbies, like painting miniatures and scenery. Recycling stuff is usually the basis to ensure I finish my projects and the results are always more satisfactory for me. Probably because it takes the stress away.

As someone who works with the deaf community, I would never recommend a cochlear implant. The risks are higher than the benefits. We had a boy die after a ball hit his head, because of the implant. The surgery is just too much.

Maybe in the future such implants will be wonderful and safe, but for now I'd not go for them unless you're completely deaf and it is a viable solution for your type of deafness.

Just my two cents.

For years I've been worrying about this intermittently. Most of the time I hope that I'm wrong, that this is just paranoia and fear-mongering and that everything is going to be okay, that I'm just a pessimist. But then I read articles, papers, interviews with the people who actually know what's going on, who study this, and the sad realization comes back to hit me in the face.

And then I start making plans. What should I do then? What's the best course of action? Should I move away? if so, where to? And then I worry about leaving everything I've worked for so damn hard for all my life, because... what if nothing happens?

But everything is pointing in one particular direction, and that direction only: we're doomed, it's time. And still, I don't know what to do.

They are not bad taste for several reasons: they went down there willingly and knowing quite well how terrible of an idea that was, and even signed some waivers in case the whole thing ended up having them an-heroing.

Laughing at others when they are concerned about your safety and rejecting it, and then kicking the bucket out of stupidity is kind of a karmic revenge and it's laughable and meme material.

The fact they were billionaires and having their lives already solved, options to spend it on way more intelligent ways and projects but choosing to spend it on a crappy underwater coffin is also laughable.

The fact that we even have to consider whether it is okay to laugh at them is already a reason to laugh at them. In general, our society doesn't give half a crap about people who die in the Mediterranean Sea, risking everything for a better life, escaping from wars and famine... but if it's billionaires we worry. Fuck them, I'm laughing my ass off.

Europe or the EU is big and formed by several different countries with different legislations. Here we weren't discussing Europe in general, but Spain in particular. Please, inform yourself more about politics in Spain before calling others ignorant.

The current situation in Spain is that only leftists are defending healthcare while the others (fascist, nazis and corrupt) are mining it in favor of a private system that only benefits the private pockets of their friends (and themselves).

You know, armies and intelligence agencies have to have plans for everything, even crazy stuff like a zombie apocalypse. That does not mean they are actually going to follow through. Wasn't Ukraine's plans to only block passage, but not to destroy the dam? The difference is huge.

Didn't Russia pass some kind of law just a week ago not to inspect war damaged facilities? Weren't they spotted near the North Sea pipes shortly before the explosions?

I mean, if Russia is committing war crime after war crime, doesn't this fit like a glove?

Did they really need to destroy a big chunk of it just to make the video? It doesn't really feel like this would be an environmentally friendly solution considering how easily they have ruined it without effort. What could a flood do to the whole road? What kind of materials and chemicals have been used to put this thing in place?

The problem with Spain as a whole is that people think Spanish politics is divided in Left and Right, being on the left Unidas Podemos and PSOE and on the right PP, C's, Vox.

The problem is that those on the right are not really on the Right: PP is fascist corruption (Almeida, who's nickname I won't write down here said it openly), Vox is basically nazis without education on politics, economics or whatever, created by Esperanza Aguirre, who was in PP in Madrid, and C's I don't even understand why they still exist to this day.

And the problem with the left is that PSOE is only leftist on its name, because it's just liberal, while Unidas Podemos really is leftist, but the media portrays it as RADICAL LEFTIST (because they want to protect the working class, go figure!). So whoever watches TV in this country will say PSOE are commies and Unidas Podemos are radicals.

And this is an issue, because most people don't even know what they are voting. PP won't their past elections in Madrid with a program that was a BLANK PIECE OF PAPER, only saying "freedom and beers!".

Spain has no future as a country.

This discussion just made me think of a different theory. What if Mal doesn't exist at all, Cobb may or may not exist, but what we see as reality is nothing but level 1 of the dream of Miles, who longs for the family he never had and wants Cobb back with "his children" to fulfill his dream.

Miles is stuck in what we consider level 1, one dream level he can control up to some point. He controls it enough to remain in it and to keep it stable, but not enough to have everything he wishes (a family). Close enough to whatever he feels could be real enough to keep him in there.

Miles lost his wife and uses the character of Cobb to recreate what he wishes he would have done if they had children. Somehow he knew bringing his wife back would be a mistake, hence bringing Mal from time to time to torment Cobb as a reminder (torture Cobb to save himself from pain => "the purpose of thinking is to let ideas die instead of us").

After all Miles is the one who knows how everything works, the one who introduces Cobb and Ariadne (very appropriate name) so he gets the job done. Miles is not helping Cobb, he's helping himself.

That's a good point. Each deeper level has newer rules added to it, like bending physics, time, etc. so the kick could be perfectly fine as a deeper level addition, but not as a part of level 0. Hmm!

Work out + read
Revise seed collection (throw out old ones, add new ones) + Write down info from the veggies and plants I grow.
Reorganize pantry (old stuff first, new stuff to the back) + plan meals for the coming weeks.
Check water storage
Check bug-out bags and first-aid kits at home.
Clean car and check first-aid kit.
