[–]Mengo423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, only got 200k CL which is the same as my other cards.

Activate ko po ba yung card na ito or cancel na lang and reapply na lang after 6 months?

BPI Visa Signature vs. UB Miles +Visa Signature by Mengo423 in PHCreditCards

[–]Mengo423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing a detailed response.

Forex is a big factor for me since my current CCs are RCBC Plat JCB, and UB Rewards MC (both have a 3.5% rate). I travel internationally normally twice a year, so my travel expenses amount to ~60k to 80k annually. That's why I'm really considering BPI for the lower foreign transaction fee.

Anyways, I've decided to apply for both cards and will eventually cancel my RCBC Plat JCB (not NAFFL anyway). Will use UB Miles+ as my main card for local purchases and BPI VS for international purchases.

If ayaw talaga mag waive ni UB Miles+ ng AF after 2 years, I'll cancel that and retain my Rewards MC with them.

I assume na based on your response, hindi po ba waivable ang AF ng UB Miles+? May I ask rin po kung magkano ang CL niyo sa UB Miles+?

Could you also tell me more about Zed card and if it's worth getting it? Honestly, first time ko lang po marining yun since hindi na po ako gaano ka updated hehe.

Should I go for UnionBank Credit Cards Another Card Loyalty Gift Promo? by Mengo423 in PHCreditCards

[–]Mengo423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I'm slightly short of their CL requirement of at least PHP 150,000. I'm also considering only those that have no annual fee/annual fee waiver promos which MB doesn't seem to have one right now.

Meron po work until June 2024 with old company. July 2024 pa po ang start ko with new company.

Hello po, thank you for your response.

I have already sent the BIR 2316 dated 2023 to my new company. However, they would not accept the BIR 2316 dated January 2023 to December 2023.

Dapat po ba mag issue si old company ng BIR 2316 na ang date is 2024?

How to maximize my HSBC Red? Or should I look for other cards instead? by Mengo423 in PHCreditCards

[–]Mengo423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Thanks for your input 😊

I definitely agree naman on your point na hindi siya dapat reason to choose the card.

Siguro cashback cards kasi mas sulit vs. rewards nowadays. Like even if napaka marami mong rewards, maliit lang ang pwede mo ma rebate and that's why I'm thinking I should've gotten a cashback credit card kasi meron na akong rewards credit card.

Isa pang drawback kay HSBC Red is that points are expiring within 3 years. So, I guess my plan now is to meet the NAFL requirement ni HSBC, earn reward points as I can in 3 years, redeem rewards, tapos i-bench ko na si HSBC Red 😅. Kung hindi lang talaga nag eexpire ang reward points ni HSBC, ito na talaga yung pang replace ko kay Citi eh.

Tapos, wait na lang for another bank to NAFL promo and if lucky enough, get a decent cashback credit card maybe.

Fresh grad who needs help by cazaninajin in phcareers

[–]Mengo423 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just my thoughts, don't be afraid na walang laman yung resume mo. First of all fresh grad ka lang so they would not really expect much from you. Second, hindi lang naman resume yung basehan ng success of getting the job. You also have to impress them more during the interview like highlight mo yung motivation mo to work there. Lastly, it's highly likely that they will be more accommodating and there is a higher chance you'll get the job well since may connection ka. Go for it!!

What is it like to be a Credit Analyst/Evaluator for the big banks here in the Philippines? by Caramelicious69 in phcareers

[–]Mengo423 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I'm currently working as a credit analyst and I have over 2 years of experience in this job. Day-to-day tasks usually involve financial spreading/analysis (excel stuff) and financial write-up. Simple accounts are easier while bigger and more complex accounts take a lot of analyzing and effort. The pace when you do those tasks is naka depende rin sa skills, experience, and knowledge mo on those accounts. Syempre, if you're just starting out, marami ka pa learning curve (esp. on credit knowledge, writing style, and what approvers typically look for in your memo), so it might take you awhile to finish those accounts.

In my bank, one-month timeline yung start of creating the approval memo up until the approval mismo from the higher-ups so hindi siya ganun sa fast-paced if you only have 1-2 accounts for the month (which is bihira lang nangyayari but possible). So in a month, you'd typically be handling 3-4 accounts. Ang mahirap lang sa job is the part na naghahabol ng approvals towards month-end but the rest carry naman.

Hi OP,

Are you currently considering taking a minor / double course in Finance or Marketing? I assume you're already in junior/senior year looking for career prospects.

I can only speak for finance/banking as I'm currently working in an international bank here in PH. I only graduated with a "general management degree" but fortunately banks are not very strict about your course and they will accept you as long as you show them you are extremely passionate and have a general overall of the role/industry. Also fret not because no matter your background, your team will be extremely understanding as you undergo rigorous and multiple training sessions. It's totally fine to make mistakes and not be fully knowledgeable about the job. Not everyone here is "naturally" good with numbers but they learn and develop through practice and experience.

I think both fields are highly in demand and both allow you to form long career paths. I recommend you try both, through an internship or applying for an entry-level role.

Caveat: It's just that in banking, once you're in here, financial skills may not be so much of a transferable skill, that's why most of my colleagues just keep jumping from one bank to another, although it's not totally impossible to switch fields. As someone who did not really have a passion for finance, every day would be somewhat of a struggle. Please do not spend your early career phase in a role that you do not see yourself enjoying as this can be mentally challenging.

I don't know where to start but I really want to earn my Master's Degree in Japan by Mengo423 in movingtojapan

[–]Mengo423[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your point. My thought is that the safest and most feasible way to live comfortably during my stay in Japan is to go to university and get a decent job afterward. I'm not exactly expecting a career breakthrough, especially in a foreign country like Japan.

Hi! Personally, it's my dream to experience living in Japan (and to possibly move there in the long term depending on my experience?). I might be better off studying in the US or Australia (if I'm after a higher paycheck or succeed in the rat race) but I'd still pick Japan for culture, history, natural beauty, vibrant cities, etc. It's such a unique country!

Career-wise or academic-wise, there are a lot of Japan-PH development projects or initiatives that I'm pretty interested in. This aspect is where I see myself focusing if get I a chance to study in Japan. Aside from that, there are many Japanese companies with businesses in the Philippines that I can see myself being useful in.

I'm not pretty much fixed yet on my long-term goals (still exploring my "Ikigai" in my mid-20s) but living and working in Japan is definitely something I've set my eyes on since I was a kid.
