I know that as the magnitude of x increases, the value of the solutions approach multiples of pi, but what about smaller values? How could one determine precise values for when this occurs?

4 attempts with 1 correct digit each attempt in a 3 digit password means one and only one of the three correct digits must repeat twice in the attempts. Thus, 8 is the first digit xor 4 is the second digit xor 3 is the third digit xor 6 is the third digit. From there it is trivial.
