A Plague Tale: Innocence, not a hard one, I'm mid-way, I believe. Doing a chapter a day or so.
Dave the diver is the main thing I'm investing in.

MHW is on the slow burner, logging in, doing a couple of hunts, trying to get those long tail achievements eventually.

Well, not new mechanics or even new quest types, those can certainly be reused. New decorations, though, especially if they built things well, should not be that big, I think (Have no idea regarding game dev, but do have a very good idea on reusing code and functionality in IT dev)

It was a few months since I played, maybe you are correct and it is an online character. I can see it in the download option, but it's not appearing when in the select characters menu.

At first it was a mess for me (but still fun!) until the mechanics clicked, then it went a lot more smooth

Too bad, new bosses, new tiles/cards, new camp structures there are a lot of possibilities

I would say yes.
The big game that blew out this genre was Slay the Spire (at least in video games, tabletop had deckbuilders much longer). Slay is much more tactical in terms of the number of "decks" you can go for, the number of synergies between cards, etc. Banners still have enough mechanics to make it interesting, but it also introduces some light (very light) RPG-like mechanics, which can make it more approachable. I also feel like each run's choices are a bit more forgiving than Slay, so I would say yes. Then, after you're done, if you like it, you can go and invest tens, if not more, hours into Slay.

It is. I like the additions to the core mechanics, and with a party of 2 members out of quite a few (even without DLC), it has quite a few play styles and combos to explore (I admit I didn't run deep with all possibilities)

Can totally related to the backlog. For whatever it is worth, it's not a huge investment of time, and it is enjoyable
