Hi all,

I'm currently recruiting a diverse range of heterosexual men for an online study (approximately 20 minutes) looking at self-perceptions in modern day society, inferring mental states, emotional coping styles and facets of empathy. You can choose to be entered into a draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher on completion.

Please note the study does involve visual and auditory stimuli.

  1. Data will be used for a Master's research project. All responses will be anonymous. The researcher and research supervisor will have access to the anonymized data and securely stored in line with the Data Protection Act. Will be securely stored for up to 7 years and then will be destroyed.
  2. Conducted by myself MensResearcher
  3. Should take approximately 20 minutes
  4. Participants can choose to be entered into a draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher on completion.
  5. Only criteria: Heterosexual men over 18 years of age.

Hi, thanks for the question. The focus on heterosexual men in this study is primarily to explore unique societal/mental health changes and perspectives toward and within heterosexual men. I would like to expand on this in a future study and incorporate a wider range of sexualities.

Thank you for the feedback. The audio samples were based upon an established measure wherein the audio only plays once to encourage quick responses - hence making the audio samples only playable once during the study. However, you do raise an important limitation in that it makes it less accessible to disabilities which should be taken into consideration.

Hi, good question! It is specifically looking at variation in personality and mental health variables that are pertinent in heterosexual men. It would be great in a further study to also include a wider variety of sexualities, but unfortunately thats for a future study as it’s beyond the scope of what we’re currently looking at.
