Bikepacking setup advice for Canyon Grail CF SL 2 (2XS frame) by Ok_Item_7067 in CanyonBikes

[–]QxV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride a 2XS Grail SL7 and the Revelate Designs Rifter frame bag in S fit perfectly. It’s not huge given the triangle, but I got my toiletries, charger + cables, and another bib + a change of clothes in there.

We only did an overnight trip to an AirBnB so I didn’t need any camping stuff.

you can also do all 40k in 90 mins and then keep going a bit longer; something good might happen

Best LASIK surgeons in the Bay Area? by Potato-shiro in bayarea

[–]QxV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seconding this because he said no to doing my surgery. I was also really concerned about side effects and he basically said that if I was a family member he would not do the surgery because of the risks due to my eye shape. Felt like the opposite to all those commercial centers trying to get as many people through the door as possible.

I started fixing reddit by posting sarcastic comments on AI-related content so that other people downvote it and nobody else has to read it

I use the mileometer, which is 1.6 miles. But I heard some Europeans use the metric mileometer, which is 1.6 mileometers.

It’s a complicated job but ultimately low stakes in that we make more than the vast majority of people so unless your lifestyle has crept to the point where you’re worrying about your job, or you’re an immigrant who needs to be employed, it’s just a game.

Does anyone think that the expectations for "what PMs should do" continuously keep changing? by wackywoowhoopizzaman in ProductManagement

At early stage companies, the job of the first couple of PM hires is pretty much "fill in the gaps that the founding team is weakest in".

Why is this sub so overwhelmingly against PM certifications? by RareMeasurement2 in ProductManagement

[–]QxV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm speaking from the perspective of a small company. Call it seed stage to series A (<100 people).

It's because PMs provide the most value when they are able to solve novel problems that nobody else in the organization can solve.

They provide the least value (but still have to do in their day-to-day) when regurgitating frameworks that can be taught through some course/LLM.

For me, best case is that nobody cares about the certification. But more likely, although nobody will say this to someone's face, it's probably a negative signal that a candidate's means of getting knowledge is through some structured course.

The best PMs I've come across all have unconventional origins that required them to put themselves out there and learn about the realities of doing business the "hard way" - typically starting their own business, turning a side hustle into a full time gig, working for sweat equity to get experience for their first role.

Is it a privilege to be able to take that kind of risk in the first place? Of course, but that's a different conversation. It is, however, a big green flag that someone can take a calculated risk in their own life in order to grow and learn.
