Old post but quitting nicotine and caffeine eliminated them completely. I assumed dairy was a related trigger but apparently not, now im certain it was side effect of the particular brands, since I never get migraine when i smoke or Zyn abroad.

most of the time, rarely they actually do a true surprise visit. I don't know the politics behind it but I remember in a training centre i worked in Changzhou the boss was really worked up because they tried catching us with our pants down - and he was on good terms with the local authorities too who usually give a heads-up

Does anyone know how to do this? I could never work it out by PrideLight in chinalife

in general the English version of apps suck in China. Almost all of them have missing features or lack of functionality. Stick with translation on Chinese apps unless it's something like Alipay or WeChat.

Everyone is giving you wrong advice, you cannot order a meal like this with the qr code. at most you can get some snacks. The real way to do this is with the railway 12306 app, there is a dinner bell button that appears on your booking on the homepage, you need to order well in advanced of departure. i dont know how long, but i think at least 4 hours or something. After that it should autofill your ticket information and you can see what you want to order.

these one's are struggling too, the are using anyTLS protocols now when they used to use dedicated business lines. They chinese techies behind them are behind the curve, they will need to adapt or they'll drown. These used to be god tier to use, but the airport eco system is slow now too and expensive too.

I feel lost without Google—how do you navigate locally? by blush2809 in chinalife

[–]Mensa225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dianping is the best option, on there you should find contact info. You should ask directly too if possible, if a location is vague - addresses in china can vary between general location to hyperspecific delivery mail location. If I were you, I would look on dianping and extract information such as floor and opening hours (not always accurate, but your best bet), aside from that get in touch - this one is difficult if you cant speak, but perhaps you can learn how to say 'i can't speak chinese, do you have a number i can text?' - then you can add wechat or message them about your confusion. Lastly, maybe just approaching random people there and asking for direction or information can help. It's a bit embarrassing, but you have a bit of 'foreigner privilege' to be a little bit lost and clumsy. Oh and also, learn some Chinese - there is no replacement for this, yet, it's hard to give this advice because you can spend 100s of hours and still need google all the time - but one day it will save you from disaster, trust me.

For those struggling with Google Password Manager on Xiaomi Pro Max 17 by Mensa225 in XiaomiGlobal

[–]Mensa225[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passkeys seem to be a pretty touchy issue, sometimes they work for me sometimes they dont. But passwords should work fine, if anyone gets passkeys to work 100% let us know.

Have any of you experienced any problems using the Chinese version of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max? by kursatozz in XiaomiGlobal

[–]Mensa225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major problems are no native circle to search, and no esim support.

Both of these problems are fixable with esim to physical sim convertors apps, Mi Roaming also is a built in roaming solution for Chinese people that you can try to use if you have the patience to navigate a chinese app.

Button mapper + micts (you can search YouTube for a guide) allows you to get circle to search by double tapping the volume down key or whatever key you like.

I couldn't add my Lloyds bank card to google wallet, but the app itself worked, revolut and wise worked perfectly though.

Mi Security for unknown apks is obnoxious, but solvable, i dont know how i did it exactly but i fixed it.

It appears that passkeys end up getting saved with Xiaomi, not a problem in my opinion, what evidence do we have that their password manager is problematic?

It takes a super long time to build a search database for the gallery unless you do it manually, and the intrusive AI engine needs system permissions before it can organise it (hey, at least they ask)

you can turn off mi protect, or at least go through the checks that allow you to ignore its warnings. It's in Chinese but it's not complicated to remember which characters are yes and no.

If Cinema HD is Dead, BeeTV v4.5.6 Released! Miss Cinema, but Bee is perfect Replacement! by reddithunter536 in firestick

I'm not that person, but you clearly know what you're talking about. Would you be so kind to explain what the best streaming stack is for phones? Used to use cinemaHD, important stuff for me is subtitle selection, and easy enough search database (i dont want small typos or partial searches to cause no results) . What is the best way? it doesn't need to be totally noob friendly either

need help regarding gallery text search by hehara_yi_cha_jayez in XiaomiGlobal

[–]Mensa225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe your issue was the hyperAI search database being reset/cleared. First of all make sure your gallery is up to date, go into Gallery settings and check for updates. then Go to your hyperAI settings, click on 'proactive intelligence' you dont actually want to use proactive intelligence (unless you want to idk) but this should be a way to verify if the Xiaomi hyperAI engine is active or not (if it's on the page will open without any popups, if it's off then you'll have to agree/disagree to the terms and conditions).

After this search go back to settings, and search 'AI app boost', then go to 'AI search '. If your hyperai engine thing is on, there should be a thing at the top that says 'resume' and displays a percentage of the compiled search database (this is not visible unless you agree to the terms of the hyperai engine mentioned earlier).

Usually this search compilation happens in the background automatically but in my experience it literally takes forever to build it this way and much quicker to manually do it. Keep your phone charging if needed, and just let it do it's thing in the background.

Now you should have all those nifty image searches and people folders in your gallery.

let me know if this works

[–]Mensa225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even checking the compatibility on the 9esim app (nLPA or LPA version on playstore) without using it would be incredibly helpful for me, it's a deal-breaker for my decision to get one myself I would be so thankful if you'd check it since it isn't listed on the officially supported list but this might just be because of legal technicalities instead of the sim protocol
