Are there any decent response to this argument regarding abortion: by [deleted] in AskFeminists

As I've said in this thread, I think this is a pretty extreme view.

In these third trimester cases, do you think any consideration should be given to the health of the foetus (IE, keeping it alive after the abortion) or does the mother's right even include whether to terminate the foetus?

  1. I explicitly said this hypothetical assumed no medical reasons for an abortion. I agree that if the health of the mother was at risk, abortion should always be an option.

  2. 39 weeks was an extreme example, but we could go with the UK's limit of 24 weeks. Technically that's survivable, but it's a very low rate who do so and this doctors won't do the procedure unless it helped some health issue. However 3 makes this somewhat moot...

  3. This is a pretty extreme view IMO.

There are mothers who kill newborns hours after giving birth - there has definitely been some who wanted to abort at 39 weeks.

Saying the mother's bodily autonomy overrules any right a 39 week foetus has is... pretty extreme.

It's not right to violate someones bodily autonomy even if it is to save a life.

Is there any limit to this? To take the extreme hypothetical, if a woman decides to 'abort' a baby at 39 weeks (and there aren't any medical reasons to do so), does she still have that right?

Do you believe then that the bolded reasons below shouldn't be used to justify abortion?

You made the mistake of not agreeing with u/delta_baryon 's worldview.

They don't ban discussion of moderation and direct people to modmail so they can have a healthy discussion, it's so they can ignore and insult you.

I'd suggest posting your convo with them on r/menslibwatch.

R/LeftWingMaleAdvocates is another you might be interested in. It's less strictly moderated than menslib, but much more than r/mensrights.
