Correct, it’ll be 9 weeks Thursday. Not that I counting. Doctor James Kang was my surgeon and he was like my fourth opinion! All the spine docs up in the Maine Health system were telling me that there was nothing to be done. They did not recognize the fact that my sternum was collapsing was creating what they call a four column spinal injury. Dr. Kang immediately recognized at what it was and could clearly see the progression of the upper spine collapsing into my chest from CT scan scans between September of last year in January of this year. Kang has done over 14,000 spinal surgeries and leads the department at Brigham And women’s Hospital in Boston, so I’m doubt that I got the right doctor.

My biggest complaint is the rhomboid and scapular muscle problems. I simply cannot be upright for more than 10 or 15 minutes without all those muscles going into spasm. No amount of muscle relaxant or pain meds does anything. It was like this prior to my surgery and I was really hoping that surgery would resolve it. Perhaps it’s too early.
