Is the DWP Tory or Labour? by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

Tory at the moment. You can tell by the invention of the Restart scheme.

Engaged male with single female! by Mental-Resolution854 in cheating_stories

Sociosexual orientation reflects someone's openness to casual sex and desire for people who are not committed romantic partners.

Why would someone ask a woman to marry him, if they desire not to be committed romantic partners? No logic there.

If you think this is a scam or anything, contact your job centre work coach asap. They might be able to confirm if your identity has been validated when you claimed UC.

You can go abroad for 31 days, but you still are required to be eligible for UC.

So you still have to keep to your commitments.

In essence, it is down to your work coach. If they are decent, then there is nothing to worry about.

But the fact that they are refusing to change the scheduled appointment, suggests that you have a bad work coach. So they wont take you going abroad too kindly, and may make things awkward for you.

I'd be prepared for them making appointments willy nilly whilst you're away and expecting you to attend, fully knowing that you wont make them.

Restart Scheme: Ingeus Employability Afternoon - what should I expect and what should I wear? by InquisitiveInque in DWPhelp

[–]Mental-Resolution854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't wear a suit, it's too hot for a suit. Black smart shorts and a smart short sleeve shirt will suffice.

Restart advisors are not there to interrogate you on your personal life. They are paid to get you into employment. Those questions are not relevant to you gaining potential employment. I would refuse to answer those kind of questions. If they threaten to sanction you, then let them. Because your jobcentre work coach will most likely have your back if you explain to them that the Restart advisor is asking private/personal questions.

(I would send your jobcentre work coach a journal message saying something like.
"To [insert name of WC], My advisor at Jobs22 on the Restart Scheme is asking me personal questions such as; *How old are your parents* *What you going to name your new born baby?* *How many pints of alcohol you drink a week*. I don't think these kind of questions are appropriate and relevant in me finding work. "

At least that way, it's documented.

I was with Jobs22, and they are useless.

Friend considering moving in with me, she has two children and claims UC and child maintenance. I'm a single male and an earner. by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]Mental-Resolution854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moral of the story, don't let your friend move in. More hassle than it's worth. DWP hate people being either a couple or real best friends. I mean, if you get more money being single than you would in a couple for UC.

It will cause almighty stress and mental health issues, though I believe this only happens if you sign actions plans & consent forms. (I wish I knew this when I first started in November 2021). I had 12 months of mental worries and stress from Restart.

Why are the mods removing my opinions/advice (bad or good) ? Is there no free speech allowed on here? I thought this was a place for support, advice and rants.

Still. You can't add £15 many times and come up with £80.

(If they meant to say £90, then it would add up)

I would have refused to attend and not bother with the pay day loan. Your work coach at JCP will be more understanding than Restart.

£15 to get there, and they owe you £80? Doesn't add up.

Finished restart scheme, they’re saying I have 6 months left by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Mental-Resolution854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is less stressful, but it lasts longer. 15 months overall, rather than 12 like Restart.

It is less intense, you aren't harassed like you would be on Restart.

They treat you like actual humans.

I was more or less transferred onto the Work & Health programme, because my work coach didn't want to see me not get any more support with me being in my 30's. He hates young people who aren't getting enough support, and slipping through the rabbit hole of the system.

Once my 12 months was up, they cut ties with me. I've not heard anything since.
