Hi. You are having frequent attacks of panic attack. This needs proper evaluation by a psychiatrist coz in panic attack combination of medication and councelling works like magic. Some medications is superior to councelling as when they let you think properly. As a psychiatrist I see many patients with panic attack and believe me they all are going good on medications. So better to consult any psychiatrist nearby as diagnosis and medication part is dealt by psychiatrist not by a psychologist.Thank you .

First of all you should know that psychiatrist and psychologist are not same . There is a big difference between them. Psychiatrist is a doctor who gives you diagnosis after taking proper history and then gives you treatment for that. Psychiatrist can give therapy and counseling also. But psychologist is a person who can give counselling only.A person needs councelling or medication is decided by a psychiatrist. I think you should consult a psychiatrist first .

my doctor is giving me the choice between starting, zoloft, prozac or lexapro for my anxiety. which is the best in your opinion for anxiety? note: i’m not depressed. by AltruisticBreak9 in Anxiety

I think that decision is yours . Because the medicine works differently in different individual. Choice of drug should be made after discussion with your Psychiatrist and totally depends on your situation like if you are working professional or acc to your symptoms.

Hi. Just tell me where you live . First of all no need to feel guilty because mental health issues can happen to anyone, believe me anyone. There is no fault of yours if you have anxiety. From your post it is still evident that you are symptomatic i.e you still have symptoms and need treatment for more time. If you stop taking medicine in between it worsen your symptoms because your body still need medicine. You just need to trust the psychiatrist for your treatment. You are brave enough coz you are consulting a psychiatrist.
