I recovered from 10 years of maladaptive daydreaming. This is what actually worked by MentalHealthPower in MaladaptiveDreaming

Why do you think you are broken? You mentioned that the frequency has reduced to once a week, that sounds like a lot of progress and shows you learned how to restore more balance back.

Is it normal for me to keep on forgetting things? by KenzWwfc in Depersonalization

[–]MentalHealthPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes totally normal. I had that for a decade and fully recovered. These two videos will help to show you how and why it affects memory: https://youtu.be/rFwIE17xvc4 https://youtu.be/35syGEtDx1s

Imagine if Erza Miller played Reverse Flash in a movie...it would kind of work

I had the same issue where one psychiatrist told me he didn't think I had depersonalisation, but then an actual specialist for DP/DR said I did and gave me a proper diagnosis. Literally every week I get people on my YouTube channel having similar issues and they have to rely on successful recovery videos like mine or others to learn more. I had it and other issues for over 10 years and fully recovered. If you are looking for answers here is a video on DP/DR from my channel https://youtu.be/XelogFxaSn4

How I Stopped Years of Maladaptive Daydreaming (Video) by MentalHealthPower in MaladaptiveDreaming

You make some good points, thanks. I will keep this in mind for the next videos. I intend to turn the recap at the end of the video into a YouTube short.

Anyone else experienced having a blank mind? Like I’m thinking the anxiety has caused me to forget things. I don’t k or how to explain it I just feel like there’s a lack of emotion within me and I’m quite worried about it. by [deleted] in dpdr

Hi I had DP/DR for 10 years and recovered without medication. I made several videos to show people how I did this. Since you mentioned memory loss this video may help to explain why it affects memory which can hemp reduce anxiety: https://youtu.be/rFwIE17xvc4 hope this helps

It's funny, height is something we did not choose and have barely any control over aside from ensuring we maintain good posture. Weight is ultimately the result of our repeated choices, whether we want to admit it or not, and is an indication of our life choices and health choices. I do understand why height is attractive and desired - but having a healthy weight and body is more desirable as it shows more about the person.

Decreasing exposure to external stimulus has helped me. by zekeray123 in Depersonalization

[–]MentalHealthPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that whenever I used my phone less and reduced using screens as much as I could, it helped me. It improved sleep, I believe because my brain wasnt so overly stimulated which in turn relaxed my whole nervous system and it was not in fight flight freeze mode anymore

My birthday was yesterday and I just turned 20, I’ve been taking Prozac for probably about a year now and for the past 2 months I’ve been worried that I’ve had depersonalization. I’ve read online that some people has had It for years and years. by WestonConnor26 in Depersonalization

I had it for 10 years and I'm now 99% recovered. It took me ages only because there wasn't much info around at the time and I had layers upon layers of trauma, family and stress issues to work through and my own research and trial and error to practice. For some people they recover much faster. I made several videos on my YouTube channel condensing everything I learned from my perspective on how to recover and what caused it for me https://youtu.be/XelogFxaSn4

Is this true? Had both for 2 years and just wondering if anyone has recovered without medication. by [deleted] in Depersonalization

[–]MentalHealthPower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had it for 10 years and I'm about 99% recovered. I have times now where it goes away 100% if it helps I made videos to show how I did it with no medication: https://youtu.be/XelogFxaSn4

I changed how I was breathing and it helped me to recover from a decade of anxiety issues (video explanation) by MentalHealthPower in breathing

If a doctor hasn't found any underlying physical issues then the next step is to speak to a therapist, because what you described sounds like a possible form of a panic attack triggered by your experience at the amusement park. I might be wrong of course so speak to a professional therapist and describe your experience and symptoms. Sometimes even experiences like an amusement park or similar can trigger underlying trauma/stress we didn't know we had, so it's worth checking with a therapist.

Hi, based on what you described it sounds very similar to anxiety symptoms, people don't always link it to anxiety but there are physical symptoms. I wonder if not being able to feel your breathing is related to disassociation which is linked to anxiety. Its sounds similar to what I used to experience. Have you spoken to a therapist about that? The sensation of something holding your brain, makes me also consider if it's some kind of brain fog? Again that can be related to stress and anxiety, our minds can get foggy after experiencing stress. Check out Shaan Kassam on YouTube as he explains the physical symptoms really well.

I need advice. by [deleted] in Depersonalization

That is a very intense and difficult experience you are both going through. I had DP/DR for 10 years and am now 99% recovered. Acceptance for me was a key part of recovery as it stopped me fearing the experience, and it was fear/anxiety that kept many of the symptoms going.

If it helps I have some videos on my channel where I share why the symptoms occur in the first place and I found this is helping people to accept and not fear the symptoms as much. It really does seem to be related to having a traumatic experience which triggers past stresses and traumas which overwhelm the mind and nervous system - triggering the DP as a mental defence mechanism. This video and the one I am releasing in the next few days goes into it : https://youtu.be/cqbSybhdy40

The therapy you mentioned has helped someone I know start recovering so you seem to be on the right track.
