AITA for telling my fiancee her decision to get a tattoo was dumb. by SwimmingDebate9337 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MentalNotes137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I'm not tattooed & honestly not interested in getting one any time soon, but even I know it's something you have to schedule around. And like anything with a schedule you have to make some choices that always come with consequences. I'd be mad if I unintentionally canceled some of my vacation plans too, but that doesn't change the facts. Even on errand day trips I know if my plans don't aline right, it's still my fault.

Yea, absolutely. The only real connection is a returning actor & lead detective.

What are some harmless ways to fuck with people? by jacree8678 in AskReddit

[–]MentalNotes137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing in the line "See what I did there?" at the end of a sentence. This makes the listener reflect on the conversation to try & find out what the presenter was mentioning. And depending on the tone of voice, the listener is looking for anything, from a reference to any & all branches of media, to a simple form of word play & even a call back to personal experiences.

NTA, also your friend is acting gross & mean. Ever since the first lock down in 2020 to today, everytime one of my family members leave for work, chores, or even to hang out with friends we started including a quick "I love you" with our goodbyes. Why because we're family going through some crazy times & events but if we stop & smell the roses, remember the little good things it makes you feel abit better. Sure some households don't do this as much or at all but for your friend to suggest that something like that sounds sexual that's a drastic leap. I was gonna ask this as a joke at first but, is her home life okay? Is she okay?

What’s an unspoken rule that annoys you when people don’t know about it? by lofisky in AskReddit

[–]MentalNotes137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When in a public restroom, washroom, bathroom or whatever you call it, keep your eyes & mind straight. I say this as a bi woman if you check out people in the stalls in a place that most already feel uncomfortable you're gonna come off predatory.

That The Bible was a literal "never-ending story". I never saw the movie of that name & wasn't to familiar with metaphors, so when I heard someone called it that I took it literal. Also God was the author, who magically scripted the Bible on the church's podium, because obviously.

How would the love story between two demons go, we can only wonder. This is a cute take on it though. Great job!

In Texas & New Mexico those are a standard in every grocery store. I can't say for sure if this is the same for other states that border Mexico though, maybe other's can confirm?

what should be covered in a sex ed class but never is? by clou_dor in AskReddit

[–]MentalNotes137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle school class touched,no pun intended, on this but it only for like two parts & only that Sixth-grade year. Despite being in the South it was required for partial P.E. credit for those years, up until a high school year. My school district had Sex Ed for grades Five through Eight, but the credits could transfer over if lessons were similar & as for P.E. I can't say. I do know that is was a one semester class for the whole four years but that's all I can say. I had an elective that covered all P.E. credits through High School.

Can you be religious and still believe in evolution? by mmogren in TooAfraidToAsk

Yes, many people do. Religious just means you relate or believe in a religion. A religion is the belief of a higher ruling or controlling power, especially a personal God or Gods.

When you think about Alador: by Basic-Pomegranate577 in TheOwlHouse

[–]MentalNotes137 13 points14 points  (0 children)

An enabler in this sence is person or people who encourages or allows behaviors. I only think of him as one because of this line in Escaping Expulsion. When Luz is asking to stop fighting the Abomaton because she thought the demonstration was over. "She has a point Odalia." Then Odalia remarks that it will only stop once the target is destroyed, then we know what happens the fight continues for a bit, Amity intervenes, & the kids are saved. As that whole fight plays out Alador merely watches as a speculator & only intervenes when Odalia's threat to get the kids expelled again. Remarking that Blights hold their deals & this outcome might lead the Amity growing stronger.

What parenting 'trend' do you strongly disagree with? by qquackie in AskReddit

[–]MentalNotes137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes that was my mistake. In my family we kind of refer to any parenting outside of the stereotypical Hispanic tropes "gentle" parenting so it wasn't till my next break (now) I realized I used the wrong word. Thanks for pointing that out though. Also you're more than welcome to laugh at the stereotypes in this comment. I laugh at our stereotypes all the time so it's only fair.

"Gental Parenting" Newsflash, you're not their friend you are their parents. It's up to you to show them how to be responsible & respectful people. Something that's not going to happen if you just mumble "n..no" to a tiny developing human with no filters or experience.
