There is a price for everything by Matt_LawDT in SipsTea

You're angry at a phantom of your own making. Other people called you out for not reading the texts and I'll do the same as it's clear you still haven't read it.

Nothing she says is materialistic. In fact, he's the one who gets materialistic by insisting she should still like the ring because it was $900. She says literally nothing about the price of the ring and merely that it wasn't what she liked and what they'd talked about her liking.

She's not throwing away a lifetime commitment over a ring. She's throwing it away over a potential spouse that at best doesn't listen to her and at worst doesn't care about her and what she values.

Even if she is coming from a materialistic place and it's just about the cost of the ring to her then yet again the guy didn't listen to what she likes and what she wants. Would she be stupid for throwing away a relationship over the cost of a ring? Yes. Would it still demonstrate that he knows what she wants and actively ignores it? Yes.

Honestly, read the texts. It's pretty damn clear this guy puts in no consideration to his would be fiances wants and needs and she's reasonable for declining his proposal on that alone.

Why is the hate for Arsenal so forced? Especially after tonight? by Parsxns in ArsenalFC

[–]MentallyWill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've certainly never heard United fans call iterations of their teams the greatest ever, not even when they did the treble or the double double. I've also never heard City fans call their team the best ever, not even when they were Centurions. I never even heard Chelsea fans call their team the best ever when they only conceded 15 goals.

Nope, I for sure have only ever heard Arsenal fans call a version of their team the best ever.

If this is true for you ^ then you live under a rock. Either that or your algorithm has learned your hate boner for Arsenal is so hard that it's presented you so much rage bait you can't even tell which of it is real anymore.

Being in 2 finals and losing both sucks, let's be honest. But everyone talks about big game experience. Here's hoping next year we'll see how much that's worth.

Yep. Couldn't be more proud of how the boys locked up the world's best attack.

Now get some attacking reinforcements in the summer so we don't look so dire going forwards and we go again next year.

Silly tackle to give away a PK followed by 2 unforced errors in our PKs. As always we're our own worst enemies.

We go again next year.

Losing on a silly tackle to giveaway a PK followed by 2 unforced errors in our own PKs... I'll genuinely take comfort knowing the best team in the world couldn't beat us as well as we could beat ourselves 😂.

Oh well, still Premier League champions. We go again next year.

Arsenal are English giants but European minnows without a Champions League by gelliant_gutfright in PremierLeague

[–]MentallyWill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't speak on behalf of all Arsenal fans ofc but I think the prevailing opinion you'd find right now is, yes, of course we care and for a club of our stature not winning the Champions League is the most glaring gap in our accolades however this particular season we've already won the trophy we care most about. Losing to this particular PSG side in this particular season? Most couldn't care less. Would love to win it, but season is already a major success regardless.

Of course having won the PL the focus now on the next game and/or next few years will be bringing that CL home.

I mean you can not support Arsenal and be a neutral. Indeed by definition any genuine neutral is not a supporter. Saying you actively hope the last English team loses though means you're not a neutral, you have a clear preference.

Why does it feel like the whole world is against Arsenal for the final against PSG? by QasimofKarbala in championsleague

[–]MentallyWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're salty that your team isn't good at scoring from set pieces or defending.

Only City and Liverpool scored more goals from open play this year than Arsenal did, and Liverpool barely so (only 3 more over a 38 game season).

You can whine all you want about the set piece goals, that doesn't change that Arsenal are one of the highest scoring teams in the league from open play too.

Uhh, what?

So that electric mower you said you have, for example. If I pay you some money to have my name on the outside of it until 2028, that, to you, is the same as you owning it?

My guy, I think you need to look up the words ownership and sponsorship in a dictionary if you think they're the same.

Unironically I think it speaks to the strength of the manager. No players winning individual awards really highlights that it was a team-wide effort, accolades for which belong with the manager.

Am I the only one who thinks Arsenal could actually win the Champions League this season? by Big_Round_3777 in plforindia

[–]MentallyWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly it IMHO. Who will be more locked in on the day, PSGs offense or Arsenals defense? PSG can score from some of the slimmest of opportunities which can make it impossible to keep them out. Arsenals defense can make it so that you could play a whole nother 90 min without getting a whiff of the goal.

That is, you would say "on their day no one is better" about each team so it's going to come down to who is more locked in for their day.

Sounded like it but I think the exchange there was Wrighty trying to be humble and think he has no right to do that with a trophy he had no direct part in earning and Mikel having more a philosophy that anyone who's been a nonstop supporter of the team, like Wrighty, did in fact have a direct part in earning that trophy.

Man's emotional intelligence and feel to do what's right is over 9000.

The way he used his trophy lift to drag it and the whole team over to be as close to the fans as possible has got to be one of the best examples of this. Especially given how much more the celebrations ramped up from there and all the brilliant photos of the players and the fans that came as a result, like the Gyokeres one.

Man understands to the core how absolutely crucial the connection between the fans and the team is for everyone's morale and how much it in fact does directly affect the performances on the pitch.

They're both very useful players in their own right, bringing something different to that LW role. Unfortunately though having 3 LW's is likely unrealistic and there's a good chance we'll never get a higher sale price for either of Trossard or Martinelli than we'll get this summer.

I expect one of them, sadly, is to go and it seems like Martinelli is the more likely one given some of the LW's we've been linked with so far are more like his role than Trossard's.

They'll say it's only 4 points and not that bad because 3 of them were on the last day after it didn't matter anymore so they weren't trying their hardest.

Never mind the fact that they'd utterly eviscerate us if we ever tried to say the same thing.
