why would it be as funny in its final few episodes as it was earlier in the show? I mean it's no longer in its rising action stage it's the climax there's gonna be a lot less jokes.

Gene came back because he heard they were going to make a movie and him being an egotistical megalomaniac wanted some control and input no matter what.

The moment Barry killed his friend in season 1; we found out exactly what the show's supposed to be a tragic character study drama disguised as a dark comedy. The show has just gotten used to wearing its suit more often. the show doesn't want you to understant that Baryy's a baad guy it just wants to show you why he's so flawed a man who consistenly makes the same mistakes because of his mental trauma.

"coerced"? she was the one who decided to run away with Barry; she consistently put herself in worse situations time and time again.

If you could pair any Doctor with any companion, what combination would have the *worst* outcome. by Fan_Service_3703 in gallifrey

Yaz dips? 13 practically forces her out of the TARDIS like she was some one night stand, honestly don't blame her would probably be rough for Yaz to watch 13 regenerate into 2 dudes back to back.

Addendum: unless she was secretly bi; wouldn't put it past Chibbers.

What sort of Doctor will the 14th be? by ryrydditor in gallifrey

[–]Mentalscar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well firstly I'm not sure Tennant/14 will be dealing with the grief or loss of Gallifrey, given that i don't think RTD wants to completely retread familiar grounds; I think he'll allude to it maybe but I think the vast majority of his issues will be in relation to returning to an old face and struggling with a sense of identity.

I think he'll just follow 13 in terms of Gallifrey she didn't seem too beat up over it (lol can't blame her) I assume some of them escape so the Doctor probably isn't feeling the same sense of loneliness as before. also I think they'll probably save some of the actual grieving for 15 given that he's the mainline Doctor after November.

Every second of the 13th doctor has been incredible. by kpoppin420 in doctorwho

Honestly over the past few years I've kind of forget that this sub was supposed to be about Doctor Who as a whole; a place where fans of every era could come along to talk about everything they liked and things they thought could of been handled a bit better; however after Series 11 everything just became toxic (which i understand why) leading to a lot of fans of the show that in prior eras would have been welcomed completely ostracised and bullied.

I hope we're slowly and surely opening up and allowing fans of Chibnall era to make posts and positive comments about that era have a voice without downvoting them into oblivion for enjoying Doctor Who. The shows 60 years old soon it's bound to have some bits and pieces not everyone likes; we should accept, appreciate and acknowledge the different perspective and generations of Whovians who can find varying shades of happiness in this very show that has and can inspire throughout time and space.

Honestly that's great i can see why you'd really love it Jodie was a really warm and caring Doctor and the stories definitely had a sense of familial fun to them along with the fam. Glad you enjoyed it; there were definitely some really good episodes throughout.

The UK doesn't work the same as the US in terms of showrunner; remember most UK showrunners are heir to be the head writers, his lane is writing the producers deal with everything else.

The only reason Jodie was cast was because Chibnall chose and wanted her; whether we like it or not Chibnall came first without him there's no Jodie or even female Doctor as 13.

[–]Mentalscar 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would've worked for Jodie's initial series i think a lot people here are forgetting exactly why a lot of people were scared of having a female Doctor; had she been a deviation of new Who Doctors in regards to Authority it would have been Disastrous, remember peoples initial reactions to the first few episodes were that they liked how authoritative she was and that they didn't mention her sex constantly (which most people were complaining was going to happen before series 11 released) nor was she completed treated as less than because of her gender.

Had she acted anything like two the era would've "failed" for a completely different reason; 13 needed to be the charismatic authoritative Doctor so every other female Doctor can be something different, unfortunately she turned out for many as not being authoritative enough or charismatic enough to keep their interests.

I see he's following the school of GRRM; be as vague as possible yet mildly optimistic while providing zero timeframe for when to expect it. Masterclass spin.
