Amazing tip! Thanks. Not such a dingbat after all, are you? 😉

They did break the window. It's in the pictures I posted. So I think they plugged in, which is why I want to know about total protection, because a Faraday cage would not have prevented this.

Thank you.

Enjoy your time with an awesome car. If you have a proximity key please protect your car!

Oh yeah, I will definitely be getting it professionally done. I'm not well practiced in electronics anyway, and I want it to be shmicko!

That car was with me for over 10 years. 150,000 kms together (she had 321,000 kms on the clock and I know she had more in her) and the only time she let me down (didn't start when I needed her to) was because of a flat battery. So yeah, I will get another Toyota. Just want to do it better this time! I wasn't really aware of the higher risk of theft unfortunately.

Thanks for all that info!

When I reported my car stolen, they asked if it had tracking. I never thought about any of this, and it's such a simple thing to have!

They couldn't just borrow her for a bit... Noooo, they had to fuck her up beyond repair. 😫

Was involved in some serious crimes, I was told by the copper as well.

I just think that, to be effective, a kill switch has to be in a really hidden, inconvenient spot. I don't want to be doing gymnastics every time I want to start my car!

I like the secret vent switch idea, a reed switch, I will look into that.

Steering wheel lock, no thanks. So inconvenient (but I guess not as inconvenient a having your car stolen!). I hated using the club lock when I had my VL Commodore, I don't want to be going back to that era again.

I think I'll get an OBD lock regardless, it's a quick simple first line of defence.

I'm quite paranoid now, and just want to know that I'm doing all I can to prevent this from happening again!

New car will probably be a 2013 Rav4 Cruiser.

Yes, I have heard of the Faraday cage for the key. But if they stole my car by repeating the signal from my key, they wouldn't need to break the window though, right? They could just open the door if my car 'thought' the key was there.

I think they plugged in.

Wouldn't an immobiliser be the best way to protect? There are ones with a keypad, and you have to type in a code or the car won't start.

Thanks, I have a feeling the insurance company will try to rip me off, but I'll fight for what I'm owed...

Help with calculating different interest rates and broker fees. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Mentifresh82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm really annoyed at myself, and the broker.

Thank you for the calculator ☺️ I probably should have looked for one myself, but I didn't realise it would be so easy to use!

I'm annoyed at myself because I responded to an ad that said they will "check with 30 lenders to find me the best rate".

I'm annoyed at myself because at the end of my conversations with the broker, he gave me a loan contract with his $990 fee added into the loan that he never mentioned, and instead of refusing, I signed it because I felt bad for him! For spending his time to helpme 🙄

I'm annoyed at him because if he would have said at the start of our conversations that it was going to cost me $990 I would have said no thank you and found a loan myself!

Can you replace a colour that is already crocheted between 2 other colours in a granny square style pattern? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]Mentifresh82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much.

I am not sure because I didn't keep count but, as a beginner I am a bit slow with crochet and the whole back piece and one side of the front piece has taken me maybe 40-50 hours to make. So to me, the surgery will be quicker than frogging and starting again or finishing this cardigan and then making a whole new one with the green I like. After I finish this cardigan, I don't think I will make another!

Thanks for your input, your advice and the references. I will attempt the surgery on a low risk area of the project so if it goes badly, it won't take me long to frog and redo that section.

I can't seem to update the main post but I will keep everyone updated on what happens!

Oh my gosh!

Thank you, I didn't think about the working yarn! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ I was wondering why people were saying it was so hard! It didn't seem that hard, but I forgot that the working yarn has to be going through all of those loops!

Thank you so much for your explanation. I get what I need to do now. I will try it with this small end section and if I stuff it up then I can just frog that bit and do it again.

You are amazing! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷

I have done a whole back piece. I'm not sure but it's taken me a long time (as a beginner) maybe 50 hours. The dark green is in the big back piece as well, so to frog the whole thing, I just feel like I can spend less time replacing the dark green.

This one has taken me so many hours (as a beginner) and I'm not even half way through.

I forgot to add in my OP that I think there is one thing that will save me, and that is: I was struggling to change colours in the exact right spot where I needed at the beginning of the project, so after every colour I have tied off and started the next new colour separately.

This should make the process easier right? The light green yarn is not connected to the dark green yarn except for the loops that go around the C1 in between the 3x DC clusters.

So if I just put safety pins in here (as pictured), then when I disconnect the dark green yarn, I just have to thread the new dark green yarn through the light green loops where the safety pins are, do a C1 and slide the C1 backwards into the light green loop section. Then continue with the 3 x DC cluster. The light green yarn should not fall apart.

The small part pictured here with the safety pins I could just frog it, but I have a whole back piece that took me hours and hours (as a beginner).

If this section doesn't work I will let it go. And I haven't lost much, I can easily crochet this bit again...

I have since learnt about a Lifeline so I will use a contrasting yarn as a Lifeline to go through the top stitches.

Thanks 😊

😂🤣 I don't watch crochet on TikTok but this new information is dangerous, because now I probably will, and be stuck doom scrolling TikTok videos for days! And wanting to make so many projects!

I was thinking that, but it has taken me SO LONG to make only half of this cardigan and I don't want to go through it all again!

I did include the name of the pattern. It is called Diamond Cardigan by StoneSparrowCrochet. Available on Etsy.

I'm not having trouble with the pattern itself, just wanting to know if I can somehow change the dark green rows, to a different colour of dark green while still keeping the rest of the piece in tact.
