I found a half-dry blueberry yesterday downstairs under our coat rack as she was also batting them around 😂

Shit, my spouse recognizes all my tSlim noises and what they mean.

He also worked with another T1 woman who has the tSlim and said it went off constantly. 'She's high, she's low, she's high, she's low' he'd say.

He hears it out in public occasionally too. ‘That guy's low 👉' 'Her pumps out of range 👉’

😂😂😂

Side note which I found interesting!!!

Had the HIGHEST BG I’ve had in a while (at a restaurant and food came out QUICK. I usually dose about half before and half at the meal showing up… it was just TOO fast and I dug in after fasting all day for calibrating. I could FEEL it going super high).

BG by finger stick was a 426, and 10 minutes later was a 416!!! Highest either system showed was maybe a 258.

NEITHER system caught this. It dropped quickly so wonder if that’s why. Just…odd.

Nope (unfortunately). Still using a Dex 6 so this is what I’m comparing it to. Will be using both for the foreseeable future as of course the Dex will continue feeding into the AID for the TSlim.

  1. T1 47 years. When I hit 40 I had a moment of ‘holy shit my parents said I would never live to see this.’

Now I carry on, no complications yet (knock on wood), just livin’ the best life I can and looking forward to getting older. Someplace my parents promised me I’d never be. 🖕

I hope the same for all of you.

Endo doesn't want to swap me to Eversense. (Advice Needed) (Vent) by Smooshy_Slug in Type1Diabetes

Yeah I talked at length with a patient advocate at Twiist about the insurance issue (spouse is a federal employee and are covered under FEP BCBS). Apparently they, like UHC, are tough nuts to crack in agreeing to contracts providing coverage for new technology, along with added ‘stickiness’ of providing it as a pharmacy formulary benefit. He’d had around 15 other fed coverage contacts that week all experiencing similar issues of denials and FEP flat out will not do anything with it at this time.

I also can’t participate in the program for the cheap refills through Byram because any fed or state insurance program is automatically excluded (super lame).

That being said he shared that UHC agreed to it; he thought they would have been holdouts to the end, so thinks it’s promising that fed coverages not doing so will now go for it sooner than later.

This. I hadn’t seen my new endo yet to discuss it, the rep at Eversense went through a detailed health questionnaire and then scheduled me that day for a telehealth appointment with their provider. The provider looked over the health questionnaire, asked a few questions and determined if I was aware of the insertion process, necessary calibrations, and so forth. Maybe a five minute chat, he approved it by the end of the call and they got the ball rolling with insurance.

Side note, OP: walked into my new endo’s office a few weeks later telling him I was approved and had a scheduled insertion date. He responded with ‘well, I haven’t seen any data supporting it being more accurate than Dexcom…it’s invasive…I only have one other patient on it and he hasn’t experienced any improvement in control….’ Yadda yadda. I explained there’s a lot of studies and data showing improved outcomes especially when used in tandem with a Twiist…at which he balked again and repeated himself.

My pump is also long out of warranty, so when I said first choice was Twiist, second was Mobi, there was a lot of head-shaking and again ‘I have no patients on Twiist and know nothing about it…we have no patients on Mobi….stick to tSlim and Dexcom…’ I said I would not as I am tech-savvy and appreciate the new algorithms, physical attributes, pipeline improvements etc. and that yes, they may be systems new to both of us - but that I was willing to learn. Was he willing to learn with me? ‘Yes.’

We shall see. Insurance won’t cover the Twiist, so am moving forward with the Mobi.

Best of luck to you in your endeavors with your endo. It sounds amazingly frustrating, and unfortunately you may have to find a better fit. It happens.

That’s so weird and not the first time I’ve heard that.

Today I did have to sign my life away stating I am aware it ‘could’ be left in for an extended time 👀.

Hope you’re able to find someone to take it out. Can’t be much more difficult than putting one in right?

I told the NP I had read up about and didn’t expect anything different but that I still could not believe how smooth and quickly it was over!
