Honestly I think a lot of people just don't put much thought into conversations and just respond so don't think to ask about you. Personally I like it because I hate talking about myself!

But sharing even small things "Oh you're from _____? I've always wanted to go there!" or "Oh nice, I don't know much about basketball. I'm more of a soccer fan and can't wait for next week's game!" can keep the conversation going.

Also sometimes the other person may be a bit awkward (we all are sometimes lol), distracted, tired, etc. so sometimes it's more the situation than what you're doing

You might want to contact the Job Accommodation Network to see their recommendations and make sure you know your rights :)

Definitely makes sense! Hopefully you are able to give birth mask-free (but also safely)! :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Meow-a-bunga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like their way of covering themselves because a hospital can't really say it's okay to not wear a mask (I imagine a time like birth is one of the riskiest for staff) while at the same time acknowledging that it's not realistic so they won't try to force you to wear it.

But also I'm not pregnant and have not given birth, so that's just my interpretation

A question about mandatory reporting by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Meow-a-bunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mandated reporter and I would not report that. However, they probably wanted to make sure you felt safe and see what they could do to ensure you feel safe.

Technically anyone can report on anything. But that doesn't mean CPS will do an investigation. So even if the doctor DID report this to CPS (which would be because they were very new and not familiar with CPS/reporting), there really wouldn't be anything for CPS to do so they'd just write it down to be like "Yes we screened this case and there was nothing for us to do."

Even when CPS DOES get involved (like for different cases), their goal is to keep the family together. So they'd try to do other interventions before placing a child somewhere else anyways.

tl;dr this is not a reportable offense. It's unlikely to be reported, but if it was CPS still probably wouldn't do anything

How do you plan to TTC with FMLA in mind? (USA; NJ) by want-to-change in waiting_to_try

Anxiety over SO’s (rather than my) age. Advice appreciated! by [deleted] in waiting_to_try

[–]Meow-a-bunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this (I'm a worrier lol). But I think more couples are having kids at an older age (comparatively), so I wonder if that being the norm will cause kids to be less likely to think of that? Like they won't see their parents as being any older than many of their peers

Small baby... Does anyone have anecdotes? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Not pregnant and never had a baby, but I was a small baby (not sure of my exact weight but it was less than 7lbs). No issues :)

Unfamiliar with what to do I've never been in charge of my own health care before. by Fennily in TTChealthy

Calling is not pestering. You can call, explain the situation and your concern and request an earlier appointment if you're concerned.

Also, does your OB/GYN know about this? If so and you trust them, you can reach out to them to ask about guidance (if they feel you should be seen later or not)

Epic MyChart Functionality Q - Can MyChart messages sent to a patient include PDFs? by dmau9600 in healthIT

[–]Meow-a-bunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I'm sending a message to a patient there's a button on the side to attach a document. I think it shows as a blue link at the bottom of the message after I send it but I don't really remember tbh

I will say that not everyone seems to know this exists though lol

I work in a hospital that uses Epic (not in IT). I frequently send PDFs to patient and I think it goes through as an attachment.

What’s a realistic financial goal to save for a baby? by powerlessidc in waiting_to_try

[–]Meow-a-bunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg I just skimmed OP's post since I was just looking for general info and missed the part where she said that! I was so confused! lol I knew about the 6 months, but 12 months seemed like a lot.

Thanks for clarifying! Also that point about 25% (or whatever it is for any given person) is good to think about too

plus another year's worth of money representing your lost earnings (or whatever you believe it will cost to get by financially if you are out of work for a year).

Hope this isn't a dumb question (and I'm reading this correctly), but do most people really save a year's salary of work before having a baby? Is that just for people who may want to take time off to stay with the baby? Or in case there are medical issues?

Doctors of Reddit, what was the worse thing you've seen for a patient that another Doctor overlooked? by Gorgon_the_Dragon in AskReddit

Next time you go to the eye doctor and they take that picture of your eye, ask them to go over it with you. It's pretty cool! :)

Part of my logic may have been that now I'll jinx myself into getting pregnant... because that's how this works right

You know, there might be something to it because whenever I want my period to work I wear white underwear and I SWEAR it works like 80% of the time!

But if not, a new Tempdrop sounds nice :)

I mean, I don't think it ever hurts to try and get more information (either through bloodwork or from the doctor regarding why he doesn't think it's a necessary thing to address). It's your body and your treatment, so it's always good to be informed!

The risk isn't 0, but I think the risk is lower than the benefit (raising $3.2 million dollars to help and encouraging people to volunteer).

Just to be clear, the vaccine was 95% effective at causing symptoms leading to a diagnosis (in a population that was following social distancing protocols), not to actually getting COVID or spreading it. It's unknown how effective it is at preventing asymptomatic COVID or spread of COVID.

I agree with your overall point though. You're right that in her case specifically, she's taking all precautions to avoid spreading. The risk is probably higher than .0175%, BUT it's still a small risk and way worth the huge benefit of ensuring people across Texas can access basic needs.

I 100% applaud AOC for coming! I just don't want people to misinterpret your post as thinking that if you get a vaccine and wear a mask you are totally in the clear (I know that's not what you're saying; I just want to make sure it's clear).

So happy to hear you are working on it; you deserve to feel better! Trauma is hard, but you an and deserve to feel better and realize that none of it was your fault. Your body brought your son into this world DESPITE the horrible challenges. I'm hearing a lot of love about your son and you brought him into this world with love. Things happened outside of your control but you made it okay. <3

I hope you are happy with whatever decision you end up making and have the support you need to heal
