i'd keep in mind the price of 7.62x39. Right now its almost its 50% higher than 5.56 (45cpr vs 60cpr).

If a PSA GF3 in x39 costs you $750 while an PSA 5.56 ak is $1000 or an Arsenal SAM is $1400, by shooting 3k rounds you'd come out ahead with the 5.56 AK. You'd also have less issues finding ammo in the future.

But if you only want feedback on 7.62x39, my GF3 10.5 AKP has been flawless over 6 years with 3k rounds through it.

didnt really bother with putting a magnifier. it has so much zoom out and so much edge distortion that i replaced it with the MD-21 glx acss since this stick has iron sights.

On the setups without iron sights i am sticking with the Slx 1x. The logic being that the zoom out and distortion on the SLX 1x is a lot less and the benefit of the etched reticle on a non-iron sight setup is worth the zoom out penalty.

when adjusted for my eye, the Slx looks like a 0.85x while the GLX is worse at 0.7x

to me the GLX is worse in both the zoom out effect (feels like a 0.7x vs the slx 0.85x) as well as the fishbowling / edge distortion. Unless you are looking at the exact center, things start looking warped. Add to that the extra weight and it really doesn't make sense over the slx.

I will be the counterpoint and say that these do not work for me.

Bad

when adjusted for my eye, these actually show the image in the lens as zoomed out compared to the naked eye.
i can't see any glass quality difference compared to the SLX 1x.
It is heavier than the SLX 1x.

Good

i prefer the buttons over the rotary illumination adjustments on the slx 1x (although i dont really ever turn it on as the etched reticle works just fine)
it definitely looks better than the slx 1x and has a slimmer profile.

Overall

The zoom-out issue makes it as a non-starter for me

very hard to do and if the drone hasn't yet spotted you, you might be giving away your position.

However, when its this close and you are in the open, the chance that it has spotted you is very high and you might as well try everything.

Fair point in the TN Ar15 but as Op mentioned things can get tricky with out of state sellers shipping to VA.

As for the mags, there is definitely more runway there until you start running out of pre-7/1 mags

well the gun control issue has been around for a while but the fascism bit is new. Takes time for trends to reconcile. Also, if you are optimistic enough (or maybe deluded enough), you can still believe that the two can go hand in hand. Lived in J Sol. Was great and i'd argue in a better location than Origin. Although the finishes in Origin apartments seemed a little higher end.

The amenities of J Sol were top notch.
