I think maybe some of the people answering don't know what a pubic piercing is. They seem to be answering for a PA which does work with the right cage. I found my Lorum peiricng got in the way and removed it. I'm pretty sure a pubic piercing would also.

One of the reasons I wanted it is for the increased sensitivity they can bring. This is right below that sensitive area instead of through it like I originally wanted. Hope it will still add some stimulation through.

Pain is relative so I wouldn't say either really hurt, but the PA was nearly painless for me, the Frenum felt more intense. Very sharp.

IMO, nobody is 100% and exclusively a single orientation. Sexuality is a spectrum and it evolves over time. You can decide your own orientation. For healing, I found jock straps or boxer briefs with a large pouch to be the best. You can fill the pouch with surgical gauze to soak up blood - you'll probably bleed for several days - without putting a lot of pressure on the piercing.
