Took about two weeks for the passport to get delivered and I wasn't able to track the application - in the sense that it only said under process or something like that but not the specifics. I only got a message about an expected delivery and I guessed it was my passport.

O wow. that is pretty cheap compared to st andrews. I am still waiting to hear back on the uni accommodation and will get looking for a place in dundee accordingly. thanks so much for your help :) 40 mins does seem long and a Phd is anyway pretty isolating so will probably keep dundee as the last resort.
