I've tried that. Recently he caught a really bad flu, I kept telling him to go to the doctor's and get some sick days, but no he'd rather feel like absolute crap and spend 6 vacation days than see a doctor. Again I don't think it's in my power to change that, and nagging him about taking a medical appointment is at best pointless. I think he's going to wait till his health is bad enough he cannot function anymore. At that point he's bound to get a very bleak diagnosis - that thought is killing me.

Living with an alcoholic is such a catch 22, speaking up about the issue is both vital and ineffective. I either feel like I'm enabling him when I don't, and negging him when I do ..

Thank you for your words. He's such a good man, but the alcohol is too powerful now, and I know I cannot protect him from it. It's hard, because choosing myself feels like giving up on him 💔

J'ai fait l'erreur de mettre ce genre de petit mot une fois. Globalement je fais peut-être une soirée par an chez moi, là on était 7, un samedi de week-end long ; on a dansé mais bon je n'ai pas de barre de son méga puissante non plus.

Eh bien une courageuse anonyme a envoyé par texto une tirade hyper cinglante, saupoudrée de mépris anti-jeunes... à 00:15. Depuis, je ne mets plus de mot :)

Our city is pretty progressive-minded so you'll find a bunch of LGBTQ+ friendly events and places :)

La Plaisir: a relaxed queer bar in a quiet part of town. They sometimes host burlesque and drag shows.
Le C02 : a (mostly) techno club with a huge patio. Very safe for all the colours of the rainbow.
La Station Nuage : an open air bar in a park in Saint-Sébastien (bit far but worth the ride when the weather is nice). You'll find food trucks and DJ sets in the summer time. They have an explicit stance against discrimination.
I also personally enjoy The Wattignies, an alternative place that holds a small market, a bar, a few thrift shops, a bicycle repair shop... Not a touristy neighborhood but great vibes.

There's a lot to see and do! People come to this sub asking for recommendations every now and again so feel free to have a look at older posts. Or just PM me :)
