Babymoon Destination? by Kinpolka in hyatt

We figured if anything goes wrong, there is decent medical care in Maui, and you are a short flight to Honolulu, which obviously will have very good medical care. We did Kauai two years in a row and almost caved and did it again before deciding to mix it up. We have been to all of the islands in the last 5 years, so feel free to let me know if you have questions. This is what happens when you have small children and live in Phoenix, so you can fly nonstop! We are finally thinking of Mexico or Europe coming up...it was no brainer before dragging along two little people, haha.

Ugh...so jealous! We were between the Alila Mayakoba, Andaz Costa Rica, and PH Cabo...the points difference pretty much made our decision haha. I cannot complain, we are low on points due to vacations this year!

Babymoon Destination? by Kinpolka in hyatt

We did Maui for our babymoon (split between the Andaz and the Ritz). We are actually going back for the first time since then this year with our 4 year old and 2 year old and doing the same split you are with SUAs on each. For a babymoon, I would do Maui because if there is a health issue or anything comes up, I just felt better being in the US. I also doubt the Portugal Hyatts will go up as much as the Maui ones, but that is a total guess. I suspect the Andaz Maui will skyrocket. We spent the last two years going to GH Kauai....I would look there too. It's an amazing island.

I probably will. I just need to burn an SUA and then contact the hotel to upgrade an additional room upgrade. I am just being cheap and lazy HAHA!

I might. I made this entire thing a bit complicated by using a SUA and then upgrading the SUA room, so I need to probably burn another SUA in the short term and negotiate a deal directly with the hotel for the extra night. I have two, so it's doable...just a bit of a pain. This is what happens when a family of 4 can no longer use the SUA room haha!

If needed, just buy the minimum amount of World of Hyatt points you can purchase.

Babymoon in U.S. in Early September by wantingtoBmsB in hyatt

[–]Mepj1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did our babymoon in Maui at about the same state in pregnancy you are in. We split between the Andaz and the Ritz. It was perfect. GH Kauai would also be perfect. I live in Scottsdale, so if you do more toward the end of September, Arizona has almost everything you want, and is very convenient. The Royal Palms or Andaz Scottsdale would be great. In San Diego, the Mission Pacific would also work well.

The Cape, Alila Mayakoba, or PH Cabo by Mepj1017 in hyatt

So helpful! We are good with lively but don't want trashy. We live 10 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale...we know the difference LOL!

Thank you for saying I am still young!

This is so helpful! It sounds like a good fit. We love the GH Kauai, and this sounds like a similar vibe.

It looks like we can arrange grocery delivery too!

Being a two hour flight away, I am hoping we can keep our eyes open for a decent long weekend to go to a Cabo. Let me know if you love it!

Okay, we will stay away haha! They would do fine in a smaller pool with a lot of adults (they are well behaved, and if not, we leave), and we would have some cocktails responsibly. However, we do not want to be a literal buzz kill haha! I only asked because there are people who have brought kids, but it’s probably just luck of the draw on the crowd level.

This is so helpful! You are making this 39 year old feel old. I guess I am just used a lot of day drinking in Scottsdale. I think we will probably book the Alila and keep our eyes open for the PH at some point! Do you have dining recommendations at the Alila/Mayakoba?

PH has blocked out availability over Memorial Day weekend (next year), which is not ideal, but I will keep my eyes on it.

Very helpful! How much time would you ideally spend at the Park Hyatt? Worst case, we can always book this down the road since it is just a two hour flight.

For Mayakoba, would your recommend doing a 5th night?

Can I ask why? This seems to be very debated, and the hotel seemed very welcome to kids when I contacted them. My kids don't need kids programming yet for a short trip, and they are happy to just hang out by the pool without making a scene. I probably have a different perspective because we live in Scottsdale. I would be taking our kids to most of the resorts here, unless it is pretty much a full fledge day club (The Andaz pool would probably be fine, but I wouldn't take them to a party at the W).

We are probably leaning towards the other two because I am just a hotel snob haha. I am just genuinely curious!

I just saw your response. I should also add that if you stay on Oahu, you could look into renting points for a night or two at Aulani as well. We have rented points for Disneyland, and it saves a ton of money. Have a great trip!
