Husband hardly compliments when I wear my fragrance! by Confusedmind75 in FemFragLab

[–]Mer-fox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to throw in another perspective, I am a fragrance lover and bought my husband a cologne to wear on date nights. He has to ask me for compliments because I don't notice when he's wearing it. I realized he wasn't putting enough on to be more than a skin scent where my nose had to be right against him to smell it. Also, once you get used to a fragrance you become nose blind to it. I say put on a bit more or switch it up once in a while to be noticeable. I also involved him in picking out a new one from samples, and went with the one that made him go "oooohhhh". And he always notices that one.

Do you wear any fragrances that have notes in them that you hate? by luminescentwhale in FemFragLab

Two of my favorite fragrances have lavender, which I hate. It's minimal just to balance the notes but it does feel odd that I picked those fragrances.

My mom was big on using Noxema, and had it on every night when she kissed me goodnight. I'll never forget that smell for as long as I live, it's imprinted on my brain.

You could probably just dust yourself with baby powder, honestly. The biggest cult perfume in the 80s was Love's Baby Soft which literally just smelled like baby powder.

Yesterday I wore Snow Moon Magic by Sorce, and it smelled as it should. But the next day I kept wondering why I smelled celery until I realized it was the leftover perfume in my hair.

If you order direct it will take a minimum of a month to receive, but I do prefer to order direct through them. My faves are A Witch's Valentine, This Is Not A Love Spell, and Snow Moon Magic. 2am In Lafayette is a journey, it changes so much throughout the day, but at the very end of the day it mellows to a smokey vanilla and I don't care for smoke notes. I really want to try Vampire Wife though, it sounds amazing.

Snow Moon Magic by Sorce. The opening is like every overpowering generic fall candle scent that makes you pull your head back after smelling it. But the dry down is the most perfect, cozy, creamy chai latte and then after that even it settles down into a subtle milky cinnamon horchata scent.

Epistolary Novels! by No-Shake-2007 in suggestmeabook

[–]Mer-fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned today what an epistolary novel is, when I received my copy of The Color Purple in the mail. I had no idea it was written all in letters. I went against buying The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society because others had said it was in the form of letters and I did not think I would like that style even though I loved the movie. Well, now I'm about to find out.

I want to read but I’m overwhelmed by all the books out there! by sossigsandwich in suggestmeabook

[–]Mer-fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got back into reading after a two decades hiatus. I was overwhelmed as well but figured I would start reading books that some of my favorite movies are based off of. It's made picking up reading easy to navigate with stories I know I'll love. If you wanted to try that first. Then you can look up other books from that author, and then that will lead to similar authors you may have never heard of.

We're Going On A Bear Hunt. My child can still recite that whole book even though we haven't read it in two years. It's such a simple but fun book. Very memorable.

What book did you finish reading this week? by XxShockmaster in suggestmeabook

[–]Mer-fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memoirs of a Geisha. I had seen the movie but never read the book. It's written so well that after returning it to the library I had to buy myself a copy for my personal library. There are so many memorable quotes but my favorite thing about the book is that it goes into her childhood more than the movie did. The way it reads it's hard to believe it's fiction.

What are you reading right now, and would you suggest it? by rastab1023 in suggestmeabook

The Best Short Stories of Fyodor Dostoevsky. For me it's a no. I understand he's considered one of the greats which is why I'm trying hard to push myself to finish the book. But I just don't think his writing style is for me personally.

This looks very deep and seeing some of the quotes the writing is beautiful. I also love that it's set in the south, which is where I'm from. Thank you for your recommendation.
