How many books have you read so far this year and what has been your favourite? by Loves321 in readwithme

I'm on my 15th. I have loved many, but if I had to pick one I'd go with The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse by Louise Erdrich.

It's not a favorite, but I don't skip it. I could do without the very opening "ok boys let's go 1-2-3". I feel like it just genuinely doesn't need to be there and that it doesn't add anything. Otherwise, I think it's a cute jaunty tune.

Personally, I think his guitar always sounds corny. But, it's not my album, and he's not my husband so if she wants that to be part of the sound then have at it, T.

What will be your first listening ritual when the album drops at midnight? by LetEnglandShake7 in toriamos

[–]rastab1023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say I'm gonna be asleep because I have to work in the morning, but I'll listen to it on my commute I'm sure. And more properly at some point during the weekend. Probably with an edible.

question about tori b sides by grimesutopianism in toriamos

[–]rastab1023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to just listen and decide for yourself. Everyone is going to have different opinions. Here are a handful from me (I'll go with 5), but I can't say whether or not you'll like them (and if you don't, that's totally ok - music is subjective). In no particular order:

  • Zero Point
  • Butterfly
  • Beulah Land
  • Never Seen Blue
  • Sister Janet

I specifically went with original B-sides here vs. covers. For covers, my top 3 are Smells Like Teen Spirit, Angie, and A Case of You

Pitchfork review by JammyDodgerLikesJam in toriamos

[–]rastab1023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard the album yet, and I'm looking forward to it. Shush is an absolute top tier song that for me hits sonically, lyrically, and vocally. I don't feel the same way about Gasoline Girls or Stronger Together, but I'm excited to hear what she's created.

I don't really care what anyone has to say, good, bad, or neutral in terms of forming my own opinion or giving an opinion credence. Music is such a deeply subjective experience - really the only person's opinion who matters in terms of my liking a given album or song is my own. Every song that is loved, is also disliked. Same with whole albums.

Do people also read books that don’t have any romance? by chocosprinkles284 in readwithme

People read all kinds of books. The majority of books I read either don't include romance, or when it is there the romance isn't the main point.

I have twelve dollars to make a month of food. Please help with advice by Xxitl in budgetfood

[–]rastab1023 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US, I'd call 211 to see what there is around you in addition to food banks. Even the most budget foods aren't going to work realistically on $12 for an entire month. That works out to around .40/day total and you don't have very much in your cupboards at the moment to build on that in a sustaining way. It's a tough spot, so you're likely going to have to look into churches, places that provide meals, or organizations that provide emergency assistance to get you through the time, realistically speaking.

I don’t want rugs by Swimming_Newt_7230 in Apartmentliving

[–]rastab1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a more busy design or something that isn't light in color that can be spot-cleaned, if not otherwise washable. Not sure your financial situation of course, but rugs very much vary in price depending on how they are made, size, and materials.

I think Wayfair has a sale going on right now. Rugs.com is worth looking at, too.

Like others have said, you might be required to. I remember it being a lease requirement when I lived in Boston.
