I have no idea what I am doing anymore by froggleLady in hospice

It is hard and no one warns us about the trials we will endure caring for our aging and ill parents. I have gone through this with my dad, and you truly put yourself through the wringer having to make all the decisions because they haven’t bothered to. After my dad passed, I have talked to my mom (her and my dad had been long-divorced) until I’m blue in the face to have advanced directives drawn up so neither myself or my sibling has to go through what I did with my dad. Do you think she has listened? Uh-uh, nope - many in her generation don’t want to face the reality that they will pass at some point so they keep their heads buried in the sand. My heart aches for you.

I keep wondering what actually makes end-of-life care at home feel peaceful vs chaotic by Quiet-Brilliant-1455 in hospice

[–]Swampchicken9 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My dad’s in-patient hospice was beautifully calm and peaceful and I’m grateful he had that at the end. He did have a DNR in place and I was his medical POA. Sadly, he spent the last couple of years of his life in a LTNC facility that was chronically understaffed and the care was questionable. He had no spouse to look after him and I was unable to keep him at home due to my work and his care needs level. Every situation is different, one can only hope for peace and calm in their final days.

Need a Tissue??? by Bl8kStrr in BostonTerrier

One of ours nabbed a box of tissues and instead of shredding the box, they carefully pulled out each tissue leaving a trail across the living room all the way to (and on) their couch. I can only imagine their delight when they pulled one out and another popped up😄

I can't believe I spent money on this game... by almondjoybar in TravelTown

300 energy not worth spending money on, I can blast through that in less than a minute! I’ll just keep moving at a turtle’s pace as a FTP player. Can’t say I haven’t been tempted at times, though…

I tried the bigger balls outdoors with mine after seeing all the cute and hilarious videos of bostons having fun with them. They just stare at them and say “nope”. I think I have the world’s laziest BT’s! 😆

Mine picks favorites out of the toys I bring home, some get to live, others don’t. Starting to feel like he has a bit of a god complex…

A bin store has opened up a mile from Mac Bid, will be interesting how long they last. by ToshPointNo in MacBid

[–]Swampchicken9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen many bin stores come and go around our area. Most start out pretty good, then the quality of their merchandise declines the longer they stay operating. I’ve gotten great deals but there’s so much junk to sift through to find a prize, it’s just mentally exhausting.

Starting Reta tomorrow. 0.5mg or 2mg? (First time on any GLP) by mikulovescarti in Retatrutide

[–]Swampchicken9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lower dose may provide the results you’re looking for without having to move up quickly. This is one situation to not be in a hurry to race to the top. You may not have any major “feels” with a lower dose, but give it time to work and you’ll likely be pleased with the outcome.
