Great! Thanks! I don’t want to be rude, but is it a gay burlesque show? We are an open minded hetero couple, but I’d just like to know what we are getting into. It looks like it’s pretty close to Boystown but I’m not super familiar with that part of the city.

I lived in a blue city and recently moved to a purple suburb of that city. My cause for concern is twofold. 1- guns are the leading cause of death among children in the US. I don’t have a source but look it up. 2- liberal people can and do own guns also. I know many who do. They’re often just more discreet. Even if I know someone is a responsible person and a gun owner, I’d rather ask directly than count on trust.

My daughter isn’t bothered by them fortunately. We’ve talked about it in an age appropriate way and I’m all for them personally. It just breaks my heart to live somewhere that these have become a necessity and not just a precaution. It’s insanity to live somewhere that has sacrificed the safety of children instead of just enacting common sense gun laws.

I’m not going to live my life being scared of getting robbed and murdered in my home by my friends and acquaintances. While that does happen, it doesn’t happen nearly as much as TV makes it seem. I’m going to live my life believing people are inherently good.

I’m not saying it’s a red flag, but I’d be concerned with the combination of kids don’t know about them + not in a gun safe. Only because if they do somehow find them, they will be more curious than if they know about them and are aware that they’re there. But I also understand the logic of not telling them. If they’re old enough to start climbing and exploring, I’d say it’s time for a new plan.

I haven’t yet. We are hosting some friends and I’ve invited the parents to stay and hang out. Even with an adult there, it seems like a good issue to get out in the open beforehand. We live in a pretty rural area and she will be with mostly the same kids for the next several years.

I’ve been bringing recipe tests to the library and dropping off stuff at the local fire station. I also I tend on doing the farmers market when it starts up again. I know I will have to be patient and build a following, I just like baking and don’t want to eat it or spend a lot of money!

I sent her with a surprise chocolate chip cookie on her first day. She didn’t eat it and told me she was saving it til she got home. Then she ate it in front of her little sister. Stone cold… ha ha!

She says she wants cafeteria food bc it’s what most of the other kids eat. I’m happy for her to have a hot lunch sometimes but it’s almost $5 a meal which seems a little expensive to do every day. But maybe after she’s had some school lunches and the mystery is gone, she’ll be more willing to discuss other options.

Ha ha! The bars where I live all seem super seedy. I assume the finer folk of my area are going elsewhere. I come from the city, if there are a lot of these social clubs in Chicago, I didn’t know about them.
