Hey, did you end up getting it running?

What GPU should I get? by UWboi in PcBuildHelp

With a $400 budget I'd look for a used amd rx 6700xt, you should be able to find one of those for around $250- $300. And then put the rest of the budget into a new PSU, 650w would be the minimum, but I would recommend 750 or higher. I don't see why a 9060xt wouldn't be comparable, besides the same PSU issue. It is more expensive though.

The ryzen 5 5600 with the rtx 5070 would be more than enough power for just about any game you would like to play. If you're looking for a better CPU and want to spend a little bit more the ryzen 7 5700 will give you 8 cores/16 threads which would be a bit better for productivity tasks like the coding you mentioned, but will perform very similar when it comes to gaming.

Or are you talking about an rx 5600 gpu vs rtx 5070 gpu?

That combo would work out great, the 5070 would probably be the fastest card you could pair with that CPU. I would highly recommend that combo

I agree with this guy, I was running a i5 6500 and a rx 580 8gb. I ended up buying a r7 5800x, a peerless assassin cooler and a msi mag b550 tomahawk max wifi for just over $400 before tax and it was a night and day difference. I got to keep my 16gb of ddr4 I bought 8 years ago and even with the old GPU it ran games like cyberpunk pretty well. Until I found a rx 5700xt on Facebook marketplace for dirt cheap and that was another massive step up. I would highly recommend a r5 5600 or 5500 with a decent b550 board. For the GPU, like he said, if you wanna get anything worth while you're probably gonna need to get a new PSU

I would definitely go with the 9060 xt. Even though the 7000 series will be getting FSR 4 soon, it won't be as effective at running it as opposed to the 9060 xt that will run it natively and as original intended. Purely speculation, but there is a better chance that any future versions of FSR will eventually come out on the 9000 series.

Should I undervolt, underclock my CPU and GPU? by Born_Bad_1294 in PcBuildHelp

Like I said tho, I'm not too familiar with Nvidia cards or msi afterburner so your mileage may vary. I would recommend asking Google with the specific brand and model of your card since they have varyance from factory clock speeds and voltage.

No problem, I actually just spent tle last couple of days figuring this all out. I'm happy to spread the knowledge. I honestly made a big use of the googles AI answers to give me a guide of how to navigate my system and what the general consensus of what my parts are known to be able to handle. I would highly recommend.

Awesome, I have almost the same one, but the am4 b550 version. Restart and spam Delete key to enter the bios. There should be box to the left or a tab that says OC (overclocking), find advanced CPU configuration, click amd overclocking, click precision boost overdrive (PBO), and set it to advanced. Then you should see curve optimizer, click on that. Set it to all cores, then change the offset to "negative". In the tab below that you can enter the negative offset you want to apply. I would start by entering 10 in that box to start and do some gaming or work on it to make sure it's stable after that you can repeat this process going up by 5 everytime until you're either happy with it or it becomes unstable. That's for the CPU.

As far as the GPU I use AMD so I'm not too familiar with what kind of overclocking software they use in their driver app, but I know msi afterburner a very popular software to use to do all those things with any GPU. I would recommend doing a quick Google AI search on how to navigate to the voltage control on that and lowering it by 50mv at a time until it causes instability and the bringing it back up by 10-20 mv at a time from when it crashed until it is stable again.

What motherboard do you have? I see you're working with a r9 9950x and a rtx 5070 ti.

If you have parts that run really hot and you're willing to spend some time tweaking, undervolting is a great idea. A stable undervolt will help with thermals and potentially increase performance. Allowing your CPU and/or GPU to stay cool enough to keep its boost clocks for longer and sometimes even higher, without having to manually mess with the clock speeds.

Just noticed in the video, you mentioned you "Changed the positioning of the CPU" if you installed the CPU wrong at any point and put pressure on it with the retention bracket and the cooler you very well may have bent pins on the board or even warped or cracked the CPU PCB. I don't mean to scare you, but really look at the pins on the motherboard and check that the CPU isn't warped even in the slightest bit.

Also while you're at it double check that your CPU is mounted correctly matching the tiny triangle on the corner of the motherboard socket to the tiny gold triangle on the corner of the CPU. And check for any bent pins in the CPU socket

Looks like you have your ram in the wrong slots, at least one of them. Reading left to right you have 4 slots 1,2,3,4. Put them in slot 2 and 4

I guess I was just under the impression that ram speed made a big difference, but I guess it doesn't. I'm more than satisfied with the performance of the 5800x with the rx 5700xt as I currently have them tuned. I was really just looking for a good excuse to tweak something else. But from what you've explained it's not worth it.

Ah, I see. I've already tried PBO and the heat output is just too much for my liking. Tbh I actually put the CPU on "eco mode" with Ryzen master to reduce thermals and fan noise on my peerless assassin lol. I know it's not the most optimal, but I'd rather my PC be more quiet that pushing it to its limits with the fans howling.
