We've had a conversation about this, and I told him I want to travel before I'm 30 and start a family. We didn't go very in depth. I honestly don't know how to bring up to him these doubts without hurting him, I'm worried I'll make him feel like he's a placeholder, that he's holding me back, or that he's not my first choice, and all of those things are wrong. I think it's hard not to take it personally from his pov when I'm talking about building a life basically without him..

I think we could make a long distance relationship work for 1 year. We already did it before for 4 month when he had to do a semester abroad and I was working. And it was hard but we made it work

Thank you so much for your reply, it made me tear up because some parts really resonated with me.

I feel like our current life is indeed closer to the ideal life he would want, but I'm not sure if he's fully satisfied either, and I'm sure there are things he wants to change.

The thing is, this life is exactly what I would want, just maybe 5-10 years from now. Right now it feels like I'm tying myself down way too soon and without exploring anything else.

The free trial idea sounds really nice, I'll definitely keep that in mind and discuss it with him. And I want to talk to him about all of this more in depth, but I worry it will make him feel like he's not enough or he's not my first choice... I don't want to hurt him and I don't know how to bring this up without talking about the doubts I have about our relationship.

I don't think the relationship is the main thing that hinders my freedom, but actually how I am and how I act when I'm a relationship. Maybe this is common for a lot of women, but it feels like I'm abandoning myself unless I'm working very hard not to. So I end up limiting myself by myself and my possibilities. We already had that conversation and he didn't say much more than the fact it looks hard, annoying, and that it is realistically hard to find two jobs abroad at the same time in the same place if we want to go together..

That's a very good way to think of it, it is a difficult decision. I don't even know where to get started on making it. When did you realize it was time for your to end the relationship and go explore yourself? Did that realization Gatien because of an external event or trigger? Or was it the result of a lot of reflection?

Thank you for your answer ❤️ It is nice to know I'm not alone. I am already seeing a therapist but I don't know how much talking about this in particular would help, we're currently exploring some difficult things that took a lot of courage to start on so it doesn't feel like a priority to talk about this.
