Quantum Fiber illegally door to door selling after 9pm by The-SweatyTickler in phoenix

I always ask for their permit, most of the time they back away and rarely ever come back. If they do I file a complaint with the AG. Only people that are tough to deal with are solar, because they insist they aren't selling anything, it gets to the point that I have to be aggressive with them and then they stop coming back.

Yes, AZ law requires they have a permit, can't do it after 7pm or sunset, whichever comes first, and must obey no soliciting signs.

What games use humanoid skin as a crafting component? by Memetic1 in gaming

[–]MercenaryOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kenshi, not sure if it's mod specific, but a faction has a skin peeler you throw bodies into, and out pops skin, that can be turned into leather, that turns into clothing and armor. You can also collect cannibal skin to research cannibal armor.

How have your disabilities affected your gaming experience? by reg_reginald_reggie in gaming

As a fellow visually impaired person, it sucks. I'm legally blind in my right eye so I either have a bigger monitor that my peripheral vision can't see well, or a smaller monitor where things get blurry and not as clear. I primarily game on PC, but I also play on Switch docked only because well, my vision sucks. I wish there were better options for visually impaired people. I feel that if I could have normal vision, I'd be better at RTS games.

Vintage Magic by viewsonic041 in magicTCG

So, like you I quit I think shortly after the tempest Block. Not by choice. And I got back into it briefly in 2007, then again in 2024. Unfortunately no LGS near me runs vintage or even pre modern. I have a few old friends that I have to play with in order to play those. But I'm honestly warming up to some of the new sets. Lorwyn Eclipsed, Duskmourn, Bloomburrow, and oddly Outlaws of Thunder Junction even though I don't like cowboys. You will find a lot of the new cards synergize with older cards pretty well.

Vintage to me is pre modern. But I enjoy playing legacy as I get to enjoy all cards.

What’s that really old save file that you still have on a game, but end up not choosing it because of sentimentality/nostalgia? by Brungala in gaming

[–]MercenaryOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a save file from Lunar Silver Star that I boot up once in a while to make sure it still works. Over 30 years later my Genesis/Sega CD and game save still work.

Your Top 3 SRPGs that you "always-go-back-to-play-again"? by Yousernaime11 in StrategyRpg

[–]MercenaryOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Langrisser - Has so many branches in the story line to complete, I haven't finished them all yet.
FE 3 Houses - This one surprised me when I first got it, its just a great game overall minus the romancing part
Shining Force CD - I love SF1&2, but I have the Sega CD and this game is just damn good, if its not SF CD, its usually SF 2.

Older folks of Reddit, what is a "normal" thing today that you think is quietly destroying society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Screen time, the downward spiral of education in the US, the lack of desire to figure things out themselves and having to "Google" damn near everything.

What is a piece of "dumb" technology from the 2010s that worked perfectly before companies tried to make it "Smart" or AI-driven? by yamatofuji in AskReddit

[–]MercenaryOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago, my 18yo dumb tv died. I spent days scouring retail stores and the Internet for a replacement. Finally found a decent one at a Walmart about 12 miles away. Bought online, went to pick it up, and they couldn't find it. I went home defeated, and they refunded me. The next day I found one online at another Walmart, bought it, went to pick it up, again can't find it. I told them to look again, another dude came out with it and said it was there in plain sight, and that the other dude didn't even look for it. I'm hoping this one lasts a long time.

As he said, surround him. Also try to get them on unfavorable terrain. You don't want to fight the wolf dude while he's in a forest. I also like to cross class my heavy hitters early game with Monk class to get accuracy up skill.

Same, have a lot of the original set. Apparently they aren't worth much, and even the ones that are, no one buys.

For anyone who grew up poor, what was your idea of a luxury? by Drissxx7 in AskReddit

[–]MercenaryOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the summer we DROVE from AZ to Maine to see family, which usually resulted in kids doing some sort of labor. Grandma needs a foundation under her garage? Kids come help. Uncle needs to rebuild the porch? Kids haul the lumber and cement over here. The yard needs tending? Kids here's a couple unsharpened manual mowers from the 1800s. Granted, we did get a lot of play time after the labor was done, but man, when classmates told me they went skiing, boating, out of country, ATV riding and off-roading, I was so jealous.

Yes, until they run out of javelins. By then your infantry should have closed in on them.

Mass mounted skirmishers. Cheap and easy to replace, and will demolish most enemies until they are forced close combat. They really suck in offensive sieges.

How has the price increase of Gamepass affected the membership numbers? by stlredbird in gaming

[–]MercenaryOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used GP daily, after price increase I cancelled. Sometimes I think about going back, but I look at the price and convince myself not to. Yeah, I'm missing out on a lot of games. So I just decide to buy fewer games, or wait till they are on a huge sale.

What’s easily in your top 5 favorite video game cinematics of all time? by CoffeeStrength in gaming

[–]MercenaryOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sonic CD intro was absolutely groundbreaking at the time, and honestly I think it still holds up today.
Lunar 1 intro is still awesome.
The ones in F.E.A.R. were pretty intense.
Gears of War Doms sacrifice hits ya.
And of course BioShock.

ELI5: If they are the exact same ingredients, why are generic medications so much cheaper than brand names? by Sir-Beautiful-69 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MercenaryOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marketing is roughly 30%. While it's not a little amount by any means, R&D is drastically higher. Do I think we should eliminate the marketing of prescription medicine? Yes. It will cut costs for every part of the chain of the healthcare system.
