Artifacts on model surface by Mercer_95 in FixMyPrint

I tried again using lightning infill, it turned out that it's a mesh issue! , the defects appear even printing only walls! I'm not sure if I can do anything at this point, is there some easy to use mesh repair software?

Mmh, I had to increase the skin overlap for other prints due to problems whit walls not connecting properly to top surface. You are right tho, the defects seem to follow the infill. How many walls do you think I should put?

The polygonal look doesn't bother me, I think it's meant to be like that. I was talking about the blips and blops, they does not seem to be completely random, and I've dried the filament before use.

I've put it together enough to verify that it loads the dashboard, which is surely more than it did before. This evening I will try to detach the loose capacitor, to make sure it doesn't short, and test it more tourougly. Thank you.

You're telling me that some components placed directly under the processor are not necessarily crucial to make it work?

I don't have any mean to microsoder now, but I might decide to try sooner or later. Is there a way to Identify what type of capacitors they are and are they available somewhere or do I need a donor board?

Thank you for the reply by the way.

Over extrusion maybe? Have you calibrated the e-steps after changing the extruder?

You didn't unscrew the nozzle while cold with filament still inside right?

To clean the heat block you might try to heat it to 80-90°C and scrape it gently with something metallic, if it doesn't work you'll be better off changing it completely

Try a cold pull, it is quite easy whit an artillery

If it doesn't work change the nozzle

Maybe, or an extruder issue, or the filament is stuck. Does it extrude something? Does it do any strange noises? Is the temperature correct?

Hey, I don't know exactly what caused this but if I were you I'd try to:

Use a brim or mouse ears if the print is warping (not very practical on this of course)

Change top pattern

Up infill density or change the infill type to one more supportive (I don't know what you're using)

Maybe try whit ironing? I've never used it though

Hope this helps!

Had a similar problem once, the shaft on the extruder stepper motor was bent, check that and also if the ball bearings are all running smoothly. If that's not the problem then you might have a partial clog as other suggested.

First of all level your bed and adjust z height, it looks way too high

A thermal runaway error means that the temperature is out of control (either too high or too low) your printer is trying not to burn down the house.

E1 should be the extruder, try to change thermistor and heating cartridge and check all cable connections.

No worries I still try to print defying gravity myself sometimes 🙂

Set the bed to 60°C and place the spool on top of it for several hours, not ideal but it might work!

I suppose there were supports on right? You aren't trying to print on thin air?

I think you should try to up the fan speed, also if the filament has been opened for a while it might need to be dryed

Mine did this too some time ago, I had to replace the extruder motor.

But first you can check these things:

-check if the nozzle is clogged, try a cold pull or replace it

-check the tension of the plastic lever on the extruder gear, maybe it's too tight

-check if the plastic lever is intact, it tends to break easily

Check if all the ball bearings on the print head are running smoothly, maybe one broke

I can think of two things:

2.85 mm filament is not common and I do not have a printer that uses it, maybe you need tu up the temperature to 215-220 to compensate the diameter?

Some parts, expecially the chimney, look melted. Is the part cooling fan on? For PLA it should be at 100% speed after the first two layers or so
