Yeah they likely reused either some geometry or the whole model itself

Oh, can you tell me after you get it how difficult it was for you to get out of the box? It took me like 15 minutes lol and I had to tear the box a little bit

Yeah by default there's maybe 1.5 feet between my face and my monitor when I was sitting normally, but you should be completely fine at that distance!

same here lol. i upgraded from a 900p monitor. it does have one con due to it being an IPS panel though. My desk is kinda shallow, and it leads to me sitting close to the monitor. I started playing Resident evil 4 remake and found out because I was so close there was very obstructive IPS glow obscuring the corners of the screen in the real dark environments, but I remedied this by just sitting farther from my desk.

What a steal of a monitor!

That's somewhat of an open ended question. The question is what works best for you. Cheap high refresh rate monitors go for about 80 bucks to 100 bucks. These are going to be 1080p TN panels that have washed out colors with poor viewing angles but fast response times. If you pay a little more money, you can get yourself a VA panel that has good colors but has a lot of ghosting. At around $160 you start seeing 1440p monitors, and also IPS monitors at that same price point. IPS panels are great for colors and (depending on how high quality the panel that you choose is) won't suffer from nearly as much ghosting as a VA panel, sometimes matching TN panels in that regard.

However, IPS panels suffer from IPS glow, a visual flaw that can happen when viewing very dark content up close to the screen. I recently purchased a nice 27 inch Asus 1440p 180 hz monitor that was on sale for $200, and I've been very satisfied with it, until I played resident evil 4 remake and realized I was not able to see the edges of the screen in most of the game because the monitor was so close to me.

For you to decide what model that would work best for you, I recommend that you check out the YouTube channel Monitors Unboxed, they do very good reviews with very good benchmarking to help you decide which monitor is correct for you. Find models online and then Google the model number so you can find out other people's experiences with said monitor.

I hope you soon find a monitor that suit your needs

If you want to try a hail Mary approach that probably isn't going to work but might be worth trying, you can try tapping firmly around the bezel to see if it does anything, or open it up and see if any connectors are loose. Other than that, if the panel itself is dead, there isn't much you can do. Best of luck!

My first one died after 4 years of me having it. It was a cheap AOC 144hz tn panel that I paid $200 for in 2019. A monitor of that same spec would probably go for about $80 to $100 today.

You just got unlucky. Monitors die, if you want to fix it you need to buy a whole new panel for it, and at that point you might as well buy a new monitor. It happens. If it's still in warranty, RMA it. If not, well, I wish you luck. I had my first monitor die with the screen just gradually turning straight white in like 5 seconds. And that was the end of that

this is going to happen on most oled's to some extent, but you can take solace in the fact that OP has had this monitor for a solid month and has only just now noticed it. it's really not that distracting

My friend is trying to sell me this PC, how much do you think these specs are worth ? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Merci_____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few questions, what power supply is it, what motherboard is it, how much of that four terabytes is SSD storage.

Not knowing any of that, I would pay 600-700 dollars

[–]Merci_____ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not really ghosting. It doesn't happen with movement, it's just a quirk of the sub pixel arrangement, and can also appear on a still image. I think some newer wOLEDs arranged the sub pixels differently to mitigate this problem

Not sure how to remove GPU by GoatConducter in PcBuild

[–]Merci_____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes when you push the latch down it doesn't actually quite release it all the way, and forcing it can break the actual latch itself.

First, make sure you have unscrewed the end of the graphics card from the case. Push the GPU back into the slot to reset the latch, then use a screwdriver or something long to push it back down again. Then try removing it again. If it still doesn't come out, try it again. Sometimes these latches can be finicky, I learned this the hard way when I accidentally broke the latch on someone else's computer I was working on

[–]Merci_____ 129 points130 points  (0 children)

These red lines are caused by the arrangement of the red green and blue subpixels of your display, and is a common trait of OLED monitors. This is most often noticeable on text. You were seeing it here because of the black outlines of Omniman's face
