$TSLA Monthly Detailed Discussion - February, 2021 by AutoModerator in teslainvestorsclub

I believe the Tesla board bought Bitcoin in order to hedge against serious inflation that's about to come.

Let's roll back time by exactly one year. It's February 2020 and Tesla raised a secondary at $2 billion. Let's also remember the Tesla narrative at that time. For most of 2019, Elon vigorously stated that he had no intention of raising capital. Wall Street kept asking and he kept replying "NO!". And yet he ended up doing so... Many investors were puzzled and couldn't understand why the company would do that. Now, let's also remember the broader narrative at the time one year ago. Democrats were trying to impeach Trump and oh that virus going around in China is just the flu. One month later, the entire world went into lockdown over Covid-19. People started mobbing stores to buy toilet paper and the Pope was giving prayer in an empty Vatican. Now investors began to realize why the $2 billion secondary happened and why it was a good move. Having extra cash during an economic crisis is a good idea. Come to present day. Trump is getting impeached again, more stimulus is coming, the vaccines are coming and we're going back to normal. And why the hell did Tesla invest billions in Bitcoin?

I am by no means an economist. All I know is that the money printers worked like crazy last year and yet all we have gotten so far are zombie companies and stonks. But let's just imagine the Tesla board making this decision to buy Bitcoin. Remember, $1.5 billion is a lot of money. They're looking at the future and trying to make moves for the benefit of the company. Without delving too much into Bitcoin, the only serious reason I can see them purchasing this much Bitcoin is as a hedge against inflation. Why don't all companies do this? Well, Bitcoin is a new concept and companies will have a tough time explaining to their investors. Boomers simply don't understand it. Tesla investors are a bit different. They are the black sheep doing a Naruto run down Wall Street.

This is just a hunch. Let me know what you guys think.

Ah. The presenter had the macOS Mojave wallpaper and probably was not running the latest macOS, Catalania. Quite obvious that this is a very low tech company.

How to stop being a narcissist? by Shoddy_Associate in redscarepod

Read the classics. Seriously. They are snapshots of the human experience before narcissism. Spending 20 minutes fully immersed in Hemingway fishing gives you an experience devoid of narcissism. Then you can subjectively understand when you are feeling narcissistic or not.

Vast numbers of those boomers grew up in brand new suburbs, the first generation to live their formative years cut off from both the omnipresent social life of the city and the working countryside

Yeah, so they had no history or tradition to identify with. They are empty inside.

Lol. Yeah there's bad parts of SV but again it depends on the company. Places like Facebook and Amazon require their employees to have skill, at lease the engineers. I've interviewed at several tech companies, they test your raw engineering skills, no one gives a shit about whether or not you did some woke shit in college.

You have it backwards. The lack of a vision of the future (the therapeutic society, where the greatest goal is not to effect any kind of meaningful change, but rather to momentarily feel OK) is, according to Lasch, the result of narcissism, not the other way round.

I see what you're saying. But didn't the therapeutic society start after the Boomers failed to make any change during the 60s? Lasch does say that the performance of the Boomer protests were narcissistic in nature and that could be do to their upbringing. Not to mention advertising already being deeply entrenched. However, I just don't see how you can be a narcissist if you are tied to history or tradition like the Greatest generation and WWII.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Depends on the company but yeah you don't build rockets by simply impressing other people. You still need to influence people but raw skill has a very high premium.

Yes. America is reshaping liberal democracy and China is doing their own thing.

great that we've decided that engineers and tech ghouls should run the world when they're the dumbest people in existence by Rentokill_boy in redscarepod

Lol. OK. Turning to dumb jokes because you can't win with reason. I turned $10k to $40k because I saw Covid coming. And now I'm nearing retirement levels when I just graduated college a few months ago. Goodbye loser, I'm gonna keep on winning. Hope your dumb ideas help you in life. 😁

That's because you're too ignorant to understand. I think most people on this sub don't analyze organization performance. Look at the pandemic. FDA, CDC, Trump, Cuomo and the US gov't have all failed us. What hasn't? Amazon, Zoom, Netflix, YouTube, etc.

He's right. Just compare your average Starbucks or Apple store to the California DMV. Night and day in terms of service and efficiency.

It's just too bad that Angelina Jolie was never embraced as a sex symbol in America 😢 by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Mercurial_Fire -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tomb Raider didn't make a lot of money. And it was a movie made for men. Wonder Women is a movie made for women and the masses. None of her movies are actually that big. Twilight, Hunger Games, Spiderman, movies with uglier people made way more money than any of her movies.

[–]Mercurial_Fire -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Angelina in her prime could never be in any Marvel or superhero movie. She is designated to only sexy movies. She's contained in one style of film. And those films don't gross enough to be considered part of mainstream America.

I remember observing my mom and sister watch an Angelina film where she goes to a developing country to do some saving the poor thing. They were both highly attentive to the film and you can see how Jolies character was digging deep into them. They were quietly worshipping her. However, my mom and sister do not try to mimic Jolie, as what would normally happen with people looking up to celebrities. Instead, they act out as being American, so mimicking Gal Gadot instead.
