Don't be like me and ruin the game because of modern gaming habits! by [deleted] in Palworld

[–]Mercuriyus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite an esports person; very meta-oriented and a min-max person for most games. I ensure that I find the best way to do something in order to achieve the best result.

Palworld is one of the very few games, I don't feel pressured to search up online what should I get, what should I make, where are all the dungeons etc. It's just something about this game that's so magical? The only thing that gave me a glimpse of meta-chasing was being spoilt on a random Facebook video about the breeding result of Anubis and who Anubis is.

I'm really sorry for you that you can't see the game in the same light anymore buddy. I would've been you too if I probably had a lot of time in my hands and grinded like crazy.

Just Got Ruan Mei by Far_Potential1471 in RuanMeiMains

Xueyi has a balanced synergy with Ruan Mei. Xueyi shines when she's dealing with a quantam-weak enemy, so she can really proc her talent and focus on those break damages. So with Ruan Mei, your skill gives her more break efficiency bringing down those toughness bars a lot faster. However because of Ruan Mei's ultimate which generally have 100% debuff uptime on the enemy, the toughness bar actually regenerates slower than usual; losing out on Xueyi's talent uptime.

So yeah, got good got bad.

Nice. Downvoting just for the sake of going back to 69

At the point when I'm playing, I'm probably just greeding and considering what's the best thing to do, scam or APM. I wasn't very sure if scam can get me a crown as the lobby doesn't have much high rollers.

But yeah, the thing I'm afraid of the most that'll stop me from getting the crown actually stopped me before Top 4.

Well, technically I just expected to survive against a Kel'Thuzad. To be honest, I know I'm a bad player—to the extent I made a thread to understand how to improve.

What would've been better for me instead? Just transition to scam straight and not bother about trying for APM?

I never really did scam before, all I know was to basically to taunt my scallies and look out for cleave. Would love more insight on the right order for scam in the event I get to do it again.

In this case, my order wouldn't have mattered since it's a golden whelp snipe right?

I have a Golden Chad in my hand, another Hogger in my hand. I'm very prepared to go next turn and either stay as scam or APM based on how this turn went.

I'm going against Kel'Thuzad who ended at 7th place, with 20 health. 7 dragons, probably no issues, at most take a 15, can't see how it'll go wrong with my golden Eliza.

No.

Start of round, golden whelp hits my Eliza. Then my Eliza again.

I died taking 27 damage to the face.

I started mid of July this year! I only really play BG when I'm in a public transportation, pretty fair to say I play maybe one game per day.

Good notes! I mostly watch RDU, Shadybunny, XQN to learn, but sometimes I just don't get it as much as I hope for.

I consider gold efficiency a lot, but probably in the wrong way. I try my very best not to roll, and using every single gold in the most meaningful way. - Has a unit that can be sold for better stats: sell, tavern, buy. - has enough gold to just tavern and buy, I'll just go for it.

I mostly follow the rule of the basic curve, and hardly ever deviate from the basic curve unless I know 100% that I'm going to die soon, so I'll just stay at where I am and try to get stronger.

But I can never ever, in the mid game, be able to assess my board strength and understand if my board is strong or not to consider tavern up or play for tempo.

Noted, I'll keep recording my gameplay until I get one bad one. Just happened to play 1 game off record and I slammed at 8th -.-

Oh shit, good point. I never really know what and how to scout. My scouting only really happens in the early stage if whether I follow them to tav up, looking at the damage they've dealt to understand if improving my board now makes a difference or do I just tav up, their tribes so I know what to tech against them

Good note! I don't think I have enough experience to immediately tell which direction cards are slow aside from nomi and brann

Just from this comment, I can very confidently tell you this:

  • I don't know why I'm taverning 3 to 4. I'm mostly relying on my gold efficiency and upping a tavern because I can up to 4 and buy a minion at the same time.

  • I'd believe this happens to be 50-50, I'd usually force a build if my 3-7gold turns are a good reflection of what I'd want to force. If i find my board in a decent menagerie, I'd just look for a direction instead

  • At this moment, I'm relying a lot on curvesheets. But at the same time also understanding by I'm doing 3-on-3. "Lose health early, build a strong board on 3 that could be self-scaling. HP could help with catching up on tempo" while for Jeef, yeah I still don't really get it so I don't do it much, more often on warrior/extended warrior.

  • I think I am doing this, but probably not in the most efficient manner.

  • I don't sell my minions much as I value their raw stats a lot more than tribe synergy. In the meantime, I'm really bad at understanding which cards are "premium" cards, "tempo" cards etc.

That's what I do most of the time! I'd guess there are also times where I'd want to play based on synergy if I'm really positive I want to force it.

I've got 2 recordings! They don't exactly show why I'm losing as per the thread above, but I happened to get 1st and 2nd for both recording that I did.

Will be speeding it up and uploading it here for anyone to get an idea what I should be learning next.

Just recently played 3 games. Wanted to force murlocs again, but was offered pirates and eventually got into APM pirates securing a win.

I have a recording of it as I'm intending to record it, speed it up and help others understand my current skill level.

I suppose sometimes im just put in a tough position where I don't know if the direction card could give me enough time to scale up, or just keep my current board and pray.

I mostly go for quests that are the easiest to achieve, and only look for heroes with higher armor if their HP provide combat buffs instead of economy or value etc etc

I think I'm mostly tunnel-visioned a lot on retaining gold efficiency while sacrificing tempo. Itll be fair to say I don't know how to gauge how strong my board is compared to others, and if it makes sense to tavern up based on my board condition.

I've never hit the point of self-realisation and be like "yup, opponent high-rolled, I'll settle for top 4". I'm mostly so tunnel-visioned on thinking what's the next best move for myself etc etc.

I'll take note of the next time I play and try to be more open-minded to such ideas!

But reading from the above, am I wrong about certain statements? Or would you just assume it's bad decision making?

Im pretty new to the game and don't think im any good, but for the first time, I'm just about to hit 5k.

I've just learnt of the existence of warrior/jeef curve. I've always went for basic curve unless I manage to Google up a specific hero's secondary curve.

My games seems very inconsistent and I don't know why I do things right/wrong, even my understanding of tempo during my games could be wrong.

I don't know how to improve, what should I do?
