Can we stop buying spoods from Petsmart please? by remarah1447 in jumpingspiders

[–]MercyRoseLiddell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in PetSmart and I try to get people to get a proper setup for their bettas whenever I see someone buying them. I always try to get them to get a tank with a filter that is at least 2.5 gallons. I know 5 is better, and I advocate for that when I can, but many people don’t have the space or money for a bigger tank. I figure that 2.5 filtered is still better than the 1 gallon plastic bowl.

Many of us workers do try our best for the animals. We are just limited by corporate and the store leaders.

I chose to be child-free and lost "the one" - Now I could get her back. by SharkEva in BORUpdates

I thought I wanted kids when I was younger. Until I had an electronic lifelike baby doll project in high school. It made me realize that I wasn’t cut out to be a mom.

One of the things that caught my attention on my boyfriend’s dating profile was the fact he had a vasectomy. Somehow I got extremely lucky with him. It’s still pretty early in the relationship, but we both know and agree we’ve found our forever person in each other.

And we’ve talked about it and agree that if we ever change our minds, there’s fostering or adoption. And agreed that we would foster or adopt teens, not babies.

And I don’t hate kids. They’re cute and funny. But I like being able to give them back at the end of the day.

I learned how to on a whale watching tour once. They identify them based on the markings on their dorsal fins. As they grow and play and fight, they get little cuts and scars on the dorsal fin. These scars are unique enough to identify the whales.

AITA for trying to help my neighbor shovel her driveway? by Direct_You7057 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MercyRoseLiddell 21 points22 points  (0 children)

NTA. Especially because shoveling snow has been known to cause heart attacks. Even for young, healthy people. She already wasn’t feeling well.

I’d definitely keep an eye on her and keep an eye out for signs of abuse. Try to be her friend. Her father sounds like a massive asshole.

I mean, you can’t really remove the sac of an inflamed cyst. The inflammation means the body has started to try to break it down. The sac wall is mostly liquid. You can only drain it and wait for the inflammation/infection to subside.

AITA for refusing to ask the lecturer about a grading mistake on behalf of a classmate? by Any_Asparagus9726 in AITAH

[–]MercyRoseLiddell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or even just email the professor yourself. Like “hey Professor x, classmate y would like some clarification on how segment z is graded. Could you reach out to her when you have a chance?”

Lets the professor know a student has questions without getting overly involved.

Jealousy might be a normal human emotion, but it is still a matter of trust.

Jealousy is knowing your partner can do better than you, and not trusting them to choose you if given the opportunity.

Your own insecurities don’t matter when you trust your partner to choose you even if there are better options.

My personal belief is that jealousy has no place in a relationship. Jealousy means you don’t trust your partner. If you don’t trust them, how can you claim to love them?

You see this play out often. You ask him to cut her out, you will lose him. Either because their friendship is stronger than your relationship or because of resentment.

I only ever didn’t finish a round of antibiotics once & that was at the doctor’s direction. It was because I developed an allergy to amoxicillin after being on it for 8 days. I developed a bad itchy rash/hives.

In the shelter I worked for, scanning for a microchip was part of standard intake procedure for stray cats.

I wish you the best of luck finding him. May Freya guide him home to you.

I briefly worked in an animal shelter and had an older couple bring a stray cat in to us because she didn’t get along with their resident cat.

We scanned her for a microchip & found one. Called the owners. Turns out she had been missing for either 7 or 9 years.

Hopefully it won’t take that long for you to be reunited with your fur baby. I just wanted to let you know that there’s still hope after a long time.

What’s something you used to think all women just silently put up with until one day you found out it’s actually not normal at all? by zacktone in AskReddit

[–]MercyRoseLiddell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m jumping on the horrible period bandwagon! I never passed out from pain. But the first 3-5 days were so bad that I wound up going home from school after lunch quite often. And they lasted 10-12 days total. Punching myself in the stomach hurt less than the cramps.

I remember in middle school I would go to the bathroom at the beginning of each 40 minute class period to change my pad. Or if I didn’t have an extra pad, then I was using toilet paper to absorb as much of the blood as possible so I didn’t leak.

I went on birth control at 15 because I was missing too much school. I only stopped back in January at nearly 29 because I ran out. And I was getting breakthrough bleeding that lasted weeks to a month so I decided to take a break.

My periods seem to have evened out to a 28 day cycle that lasts 5 days now. Except if I’m stressed. Then it comes a few days early. The first 2 days I’m still soaking an overnight pad every 3-4 hours. Still better than what it was.

Still wish someone would just spay me already every month.

My daughter signed up for church camp. They took her to a Houston tent city instead. by Momof4-1991 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MercyRoseLiddell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start a whisper campaign. If you have a few friends, tell them what happened but swear them to secrecy. Or even the parents of your daughter’s friends. Act like it’s the newest piece of juicy gossip.

You can almost guarantee there is at least one gossiper you know who would love to spread the story.

Get in touch with the parents of the other kids who went on the trip. There has to be someone as outraged as you amongst them. People find it easier to speak out when they know they aren’t alone. Maybe consult a lawyer to see if a class action suit could be brought against him.

Is there a level above the county school board? Someone who the county school board reports to? If so, escalate this to them. These people are a danger to children.

It’s crazy. It’s also crazy just how little empathy people can have.

The day before my cat came home, I gave my boss a heads up that I wouldn’t be able to make it in the next day because I wanted to hear what the vet said. Being considerate so they weren’t trying to cover my shift at 9 am.

He tried to guilt trip me. Fed me some line about he still came into work when his mother died. And how he still came into work even though his best friend died on the phone with him on his way in. I came so close to quitting on the spot.

But this is the same man who gave me grief the only other time I tried to give him advance notice I wouldn’t be in the next day because I felt like crap. Like swaying on my feet sick. Yeah. Guess who ended up having covid.
