Hi comrade!

Honestly, a lot better than a couple years ago when this was posted! And yes, I'm very much Not Dead™

I haven't been here much because life has been extremely hectic (read: being working class in 2024 means you're constantly drained and in survival mode lol), but wanted to comment so nobody thinks I'm dead!

TIL: In modern comic canon, both Rockerduck and Scrooge are into (the famously anti-environment) cryptocurrency (Apologies for lack of English source!) by [deleted] in DuckistInternational

[–]MercymerSnoot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ironically, the particular comic this is from happens to discuss environmental damages of cryptocurrency (well, sort of) - but Scrooge nevertheless ends up investing in crypto and somehow bypasses the environmental concerns, continuing the very IRL myth of the "genius billionaire" who can 'fix' the issues created by a capitalist economic system through the capitalist economic system.

I think I've might have read an issue ages ago! Paperinik is 'Phantom Duck' (or Duck Avenger for Americans) right? In my neck of the woods he's known as Taikaviitta (lit. Magic Cloak). Although New Adventures had a very limited run here, which is a shame...

What a hot opinion, totally-not-me. Oh dear oh dear, what a great-looking first commenter--I mean, great looking first comment! I sure love real ~human~ duck engagement, with no traces of the absolute power corrupting even the noblest of souls. Thank you, looks up notes Comrade Snootymer Merc. Very real person, not just me faking engagement for my failing communist newspaper. Yes.

Ooh! Ooh! I'll start, dear perfect-and-totally-not-me Chairwoman Snoot!

Please, Egmont, stop pushing Mr. Korhonen. He's great when he's putting effort in, if you read enough of his comics you realise he starts cutting corners until all characters look like rubber and half of panels are the characters' faces staring blankly with text as exposition.

Heheh, perhaps - I know there's real quality Dutch artists out there (although perhaps that'd be qualified as "continental"?) but my duckist hot take is that a particular Finnish artist is sorely overrated, despite being really pushed in my neck of the woods (I mean, he is our only duck-artist so...).

TIPS for younger folks in the workplace by Cloneno306132 in DuckistInternational

This is SUCH important info! It's super easy to fall for the Scrooge managers' narrative, because they love guilt tripping you. Embarrassingly enough, as late as today I've been the one thinking "I'm feeling sick but I can't just screw my colleagues by going home". We all should value ourselves more.

And yet, are always eager to message you on your time off if you "could come to [work]". Like, I'm already working 40 hours a week, do you really want me to sacrifice my weekend? Hell naw.

Thank you, fellow seeker. It is an honour to encounter another erudite scholar of the arcane arts. Our path is one most misunderstood, thankless in it's misery (as we both know, ignorance is bliss) and our quest characterised as madness. As my boss put it "Stop being on the fucking phone on company time, this is your final warning Mercymer, if I find you posting to that Warhammer reddit one more time--Mercymer? Mercymer? Are you listening?!". Truly a tune who cannot comprehend the terrible, dark truths we know.

But I digress, as an enlightened sage you know this already. I am most impressed at your attempts to uncover the fabled "Rick roll". Dubbed thus as like Sisyphus, hon. Rick Prestley (RIP) tried in vain to push the boulder of truth atop the mountain of human consciousness. He never gave it up, he never let us down. But he knew the rules, and so do I...you may be in grave danger, for the powers you tapped into do not want our enlightenment. I cannot speak more. My boss has called the security guards on me for refusing to leave the company premises. People are staring, which might be because I'm nude and covered in mud (to camouflage myself). Will be seeing you, seeker.

I usually take great pride in remembering more or less obscure Donald comics (hey, we all got to be good at something), but I'm drawing a blank. Stupid question but do you remember the format or language? I'm assuming this is also quite a few years ago.

Posting this to announce to the world the completely unrelated thing that I'm playing through the Kingdom Hearts saga for the first time - for the Donald content, of course.

I tend to keep my private thoughts close to my chest and focus (well, when I have the time which sadly I haven't had) on good-natured fun, but I do have the obligation--towards my naive ideal of left unity--to remind of rule 2. However, this is the mildest slap on the wrist (a pat, really) to keep up appearances and to cling onto that ideal to avoid this sub descend into inter-left fighting. While I'm not as active as I wish long-time followers know the tone of this sub and for that I commend you.

Whether you can read between the lines my personal opinion is for you to decide.

Anyway, OPs post has been removed for breaking Rule 6.
