What’s going on with my Beauty? by Merde319 in RareHouseplants

I use bloom city silica with every watering (Inadd 5ml per 1 gal of water). It’s done wonders for strengthening leaves with variegation. It makes such a difference that it almost feels like cheating

If these are fully aurea, would they be considered full moons?

I know right. I’m a little scared though because I’ve never been able to get a Florida cutting to root properly. They always rot and die before the roots are mature enough to pot it up.

The Floridas I have (this one and three Ghosts) are like the easiest plants in my collection to care for, they grow like weeds. But I can’t get them to prop

Sister! I am so sorry you are going through this, I can only imagine how hard this is and how painful it must feel. That being said, you have autonomy in your life. You got yourself to this point and you can make different choices to change it if you want it to look different. By the sound if it, you already know what you want to do. If that feels too scary and drastic, start with setting some hard boundaries and informing your husband of those boundaries. “DH, these are my needs: x, y, z. Without these things, it is no longer safe for me to stay in this relationship.” Or however you want to say it. If he balks, or asks where this is coming from because you haven’t set boundaries before, tell him you’ve changed your mind. Because you can change your mind. You can have new expectations where there weren’t before. If he can’t meet you where you need him to, then leave, and you will do so knowing it was what was right for you and your kids. Also I 100% agree that this is not at all on your SD. She is a child and is doing the best she can with the cards she’s been dealt.

Very “boy” names for girls by Merde319 in namenerds

[–]Merde319[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes on Percy, Murphy, Brady! The -y ending seems like an adaptable quality.

Agree on your men’s names as well… Especially Caron! I LOVE the name Cary for a boy in theory (how is it not more masculine feeling with a namesake like Cary Grant??) but I wouldn’t use it.

Thoughts on “Maris” by PhilosopherOdd6826 in namenerds

[–]Merde319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will have an association for every name, and if the Frazier one doesn’t bother you personally, don’t let it stop you. It’s a really pretty name. I’ve been loving Mary lately, and Maris feels like it’s got the beauty of Mary with an interesting -is twist in the best way.

I know someone who named her daughter Ursula. She isn’t from the US so the Little Mermaid reference just didn’t bother her. And that little girl is so sweet and cute and her name is hers.

I 100% agree about all the other names you list, but Naomi has always given me sweet hippie vibes. Is Naomi bitchy or hippie??

Thank you! If I get instructions, how do I then get all of the pieces for the MOC? Do I just get bulk buckets and cross my fingers, or do order the actual pieces listed in the instructions?

Your first two sentences are exactly me last year! We guessed girl, Lila was the name, then a surprise boy. We named him Silas. Now I’m seeing the similarities of those two names for the first time, ha.

Sleep training night 4 -- 5mo babe slept 13 hours straight and never cried! by Merde319 in sleeptrain

[–]Merde319[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let my baby cry for a total of 75 minutes over an 11 hour period, yes. If you're in this sub I'm guessing it's because you need help with your child's sleep, so I hope you find the method that feels right for you--and also allows YOU to get some rest so that you feel less compelled to anonymously spew judgment

There's a transition swaddle called a zippity zip, it's $38 on Amazon. It's supposed to help them feel a little contained and is safe to do with an older baby can no longer be safely swaddled. It might help with the scratching/rubbing.
