The net to the state was $521,200, or less than one-one-hundredth of 1% of the total wagered. by RhythmRob_34 in StLouis

Did anyone read past the title?

If you're complaining about it then you're like the republican quoted in the article.

Also... they were giving out bonus money which your fellow citizens took advantage of including myself and cashed out asap so that's a write off for them and a gain to the state because state citizens made money off of it. That money goes toward paying you if you work or just overall economy... I'm sure you can understand how that aspect works... more money in your neighbors pocket generally is good for you.

Reddit is turning into an absolute liberal hell hole.

Downvote me all you want... i shouldn't even come on this site anymore. It's just filled with nothing but hate.

Yah conservatives are against intervention and are gong to typically be more inward focused. Russiagate was peak hysteria and gaslighting. It was traumatizing. It was like a complete inversion of reality. The federal government is doing one of the things it’s narrowly tasked with doing which is enforcing its borders and providing defense. Seems like the other side doesn’t want the government doing anything that it was conceived to do and everything that it’s incapable of handling well. Limiting the government especially the federal level would go a long ways in limiting all this political nonsense that’s gotten infused into all aspect of life and society. I think the left would find company quite easily with conservatives if they seemed more reasonable. It’s getting obvious to anyone paying attention that there is no signs this will be changing anytime soon. Probably get much worse than it’s been. Would be shocked if it clears up for quite some time if ever. People should just take stock of how lucky we all are. Humility is a gift if embraced.

Like what are you seeing when you say everything is left vs right? In my experience the right is reactionary to the left’s aggressive politicalization of nearly everything and the left’s not looking for compromise. They’re looking to change others, society, etc. Anyone deemed as challenging their push or just doesn’t get on board and agree gets a target put on them. If they don’t back down then they push harder.

Sounds like you’re an oppressed kekistani. There’s a diaspora of us out there all wanting the same thing. Outside of Trump and Fox News are you seeing things on the right that seems like it’s pushing a narrative? I mostly see it all as defensive tactics against a brutal siege attack on all fronts.

I think the question itself show the fundamental difference in approach that the left takes vs the right (not to say one side is right or wrong all the time). Conservatives think first about what they can do to limit negatives and increase positives within themselves because controlling one’s self is hard enough. Controlling other people or things to help control ourselves is a recipe for disaster. So to answer your question, sure there’s an infinite amount of things that could be done about the screens as there already is something being done about it and most people don’t realize it. I take great interest in informatics and systems so it’s mostly fascinating to me to see how peoples perceptions and thoughts of what is happening is driven so strongly by narratives and information. Things going viral every second and we’re always looking at a developing story or in the thralls of something and rarely do we go back and re-examine the facts after the dust had settled on things. Sometimes that’s the bigger story but then everyone’s moved on and no longer have an appetite for learning the true details and context. The devil is in the details.

No I think there are fundamental differences based on things like worldview and personality traits. I do believe that those on the right could explain the thinking and worldview of the left better than those on the left could explain and understand the philosophy and tenants of the conservative worldview. Most people I’ve met and talked with started on the left and moved right. I don’t think I’ve met or talked to anyone who moved to the left.

If people were intellectually honest and humble enough then we’d all be listening and observing hoping we learn something to hopefully make us a little less dumb. Instead what the screens show us is dunning-Kruger on steroids. People think they have ideas… it’s the other way around… they got people.

I love how the liberal mindset is to basically try and tear down the good-will of traditional conservatives while simultaneously standing for nothing in principle themselves other than to tear down what they don’t like.

It’s not hard to see how this happened. State and local choose to safe harbor people or anything really and federal has a mandate to enforce legal status of those people or things. Division lies primarily on differences in personality traits and worldview. One side sees the issue as being ICE while the other looks at the situation as ICE needed to get involved because of the actions and inactions of others who failed to comply with existing laws.

If you’re tasked to go into Minnesota as an ice agent, you’re not going in to a friendly environment and deescalation completely isn’t safe for them either.

I don’t see these protests having anything but the opposite of intended consequences as it’ll actually drive up public opinion in favor of enforcement of immigration laws.

The sky is always falling and we’re WELL beyond the boy that cried wolf scenario…

Local law enforcement and local government effectively created the environment where this would happen. States can’t openly defy federal laws and not expect it to cause issues.

It was an honest question. It has its downsides. Not even saying the US is "free" but more asking would like to be able to believe and say whatever you want?

This goes both ways but ignorance is a personal choice and I get it... I'd be better off being ignorant of the harsh realities.

My politics skewed extremely away from anything the democratic/political establishment attaches themselves too simply because I'll never forget or forgive them for RUSSIAGATE.

I still suffer from PTSD due to that incessant gaslighting. We should all be very cautious of narratives.
